Recovery after c section

Postby megan6912 » Thu Feb 02, 2012 10:09 pm

I labored 40 hours. All was very intense back labor, and most of the time I had no pain killers since I went 24 hours naturally and then had an epidural that didn't really work. I pushed for 3 hours and finally had a c section. I am wondering how long I should expect before I feel good again? I am in so much pain when I stand up that I can't straighten my back and my knees almost give out due to the pain. I can't be left alone at all because I can't take care of my baby when I can't even get out of bed by myself. My dh is going back to work next week and I'm freaking out cause he has to help me in and out of bed, and up and down from the couch. I'm trying to do things by myself, but doing things myself just means I will be more sore in a few hours. Oh I guess I should mention that my c section was 4 days ago.

it should get better soon. Are you wearing a postpartum support band? I LIVED in mine... they sell them at babies r us... i HIGHLY recommend it. it holds your belly close to you so you arent carrying extra weight around..

I didn't wear it one night and thought it was going to be the end of me... if you dont have one go get one tomorrow...and strap that thing on as tight as you can handle.

good luck and feel better.

I wasn't able to move around freely without a lot of pain for about 2 weeks, but it gets easier.. try to take the meds they give you or some aleve and rests as much as you can.

It was a few weeks before I could do much of anything. I felt most like myself about 8-9 weeks after delivery. I had a similar labor, pushed for 4 hours then section. Recovery is worse when you have pushed for so long. But at 2 weeks I was able to go to the restroom alone and nurse better with lots of pillows. Try to find a few positions that are comfortable and stick with them til you feel better!

It was about 2 weeks before I felt normal again (able to stand straight and no more pain) with all 3 of my sections.
