VBAC 11 years later???

Postby LoveBug1225 » Tue Jul 16, 2013 10:17 am

Hello! I am pregnant with my 3rd child. I have 2 daughters, 12 and 10 (almost 13 & 11). I am hoping this is a boy but thats besides the point....My doctor is really pushing VBAC on me but Im not sure how I feel about that. Both girls were a c-section. The first because she was breech and the second was a repeat. Its been 11 years since my last baby and I ahve this terrible fear I will die during child birth. I guess I just want some other oppinions or comments? Thoughts...prayers....LOL anything.

My first 2 babies were vaginal and my last 2 babies were c-section. I am going to attempt a vbac with this baby. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. Look into to vbac and then make your choice from there. Repeat c-section and vbac both have their pros and cons.

My doc does vbac reccomendations based on the reasons why you had a section to begin with, for example, with my ds my pelvis didn't widen enough and she told me unless baby came early and was on the smaller size (ds was 8.6) then even if I attempted vbac it probably wouldn't work. I wasn't sure if I wanted to try or not. She also told me if we're a reason that is situational (ie breech) then a vbac is totally safe and practically no different than going vaginally the first time. I'm still on the fence about doing a repeat section this time around but it's my last baby so I kinda want to keep my lady parts intact too lol it's all on what YOU feel comfortable with. And after 2 sections I'd be even more cautious too. Maybe discuss your fears with your dr and explain that you would like to be in more control of things as you already have 2 kids at home and etc... Throw out everything (no matter how big or little it may seem) to the dr as to why you want to repeat vs. vbac and maybe it will convince him. All else fails, try a different dr.

Good luck!
