Why is Jack fussy??

Postby iheartamerica » Sun Mar 15, 2009 7:44 pm

My super happy baby left me. He has been crabby patty pants all weekend long.

My problem solving has led me to three possibilities:
A) Teeth (7.5 months, no teeth so I guess this is plausible? No increase in chewing/drooling, no fever, no weird poopies, just irritable).
B) I accidentally fed him something that had milk in it. I had SEVERE (read: anaphylaxis) milk protein allergy as a child. DH's family has severe food allergies as well, so we've tried to avoid foods with dairy, casein, etc. Although, if I eat dairy, it has never seemed to bother him.
C) I've been eating peanut butter like it is going out of style (I'm craving fluffernut sandwiches like MAD    ). When Jack was a newborn, if I ate ANY nuts, he had green mucous poopies and would SCREAM. I had cut it out since he was a month or so old, then totally forgot a couple of weeks ago and succumbed to a Snickers during AF. Nothing happened so last week I allowed myself to have some peanut butter...his poops are still normal...but he's SO irritable.

What do y'all think?

TIA! :D

Tough call! it could be the milk, or teeth or option #C!!

I don't think it's the peanut butter.

Have you felt around his gumline to see if you can feel teeth coming in? Any fevers?

Teeth! Or, just silly mama! Is he crawling or cruising yet? If he's not, watch out. He may be soon! Annabelle started sleeping horribly about a month ago, she kept trying to "practice" standing in her sleep! She was super cranky about everything too. Just keeping you on your toes ma!

I don't feel anything at all, BUT can see some swelling...

Melissasue - you point out something interesting. This week he started getting into the crawling position and then moving to hands/feet (as opposed to hands/knees) and he gets really frustrated when he's in the crawling position, like he knows he should be able to go somewhere but still can't figure out how... :dunno: He just rocks back and forth then throws a temper tantrum. (He totally gets that from DH )

I can't vote in the poll but it's definitely global warming. He wants you to buy a Prius and turn down the thermostat! :P

But seriously...maybe teeth.

I agree with the other mamas. Sounds like teeth. When Trevor cut his first teeth (two at the same time mind you) he would NOT let me put him down, not even for a second, not even if I was only a foot away from him. That went on for a solid week until those suckers finally popped through. Teething is hell!! I hope it passes quickly for you (and for him)!

You already know I think it's teeth. :-)

The puffy gums are a BIG sign.

And, clearly global warming is on his mind, lol. Your van is scrumptious, though. And I HATE the thought of succumbing to a minivan. I love my little car.

Totally the global warming. I mean what else could it be!

I seriously can't succumb to the mini-van yet

But I bet it's teeth if you see swelling!

I think teeth too Keri.
CG doesn't have fever or weird poops when he's teething. He does drool like a rabid dog though. And he is so ill. He's working on 2 teeth right now and he did not nap yesterday at all.........
