Losing supply working full time?

Postby wannabmommee » Mon Jun 18, 2012 12:52 am

So I've been back 2 weeks now working full time, and I've been bf'ing only once while at work and ff 2 other times..until we get home and I will bf as much as possible.

I feel like I've lost supply. My baby is 8 weeks now and we have never been ebf as she started with formula when she was born. Do you think it's possible to increase my supply back to where it was and if not kore? I was thinking of power pumping and eating more oatmeal, fenugreek and the mothers milk tea.

My question is...is it possible to increase this late in the game with her now being 8 weeks? I heard if you lose it..you lose it fast and you can't get it back.

There are things you can do to increase supply, but it is normal to have a dip when you go back to work. Especially if you were combining bottle and breast. Are you pumping at work? I had a dip in my pumping output, but still have plenty when I'm with him. I try to make sure I BF lots on the weekends to keep up my supply for the rest of the week.

Jess- I attempt to pump at work, but have not been able to- just because she takes up so much of my time as it is..

I do pump right when I get home with her and as much as i can in the evening after work and during the weekends. I hope that that helps to keep the supply up.

That's your problem momma. Even if you just do some 5 minute pumps, its better than nothing. What do you do? Your employer is required to provide you with a place to pump and adequate/reasonable time to do so. They don't have to pay you for it, but they have to allow it. For example, I pump at my 15 min morning break, my lunch break and my 15 min afternoon break. It amounts to pumping ~every 2-3 hours. It is super important that you pump at work. Get a hands free bra, then you can get stuff done while you pump. I've been reading a book while I pump.

If you aren't able to pump at work, you will have problems with supply. I hate to tell you that :(

Haha just read it completely (forgive me I'm tired) You can BF her at work! That's awesome! Try to get a pump or 2 in if you can. You can do it. Its truly a labor of love and its hard hard work.
