Looks like we're done

Postby LaraE » Fri Aug 24, 2012 9:17 am

We made it to 2 weeks before her first birthday.

Yesterday was the first day without nursing. We had been nursing first thing in the morning these past few weeks but I had noticed I had really nothing in there lol I think she was dry nursing for the most part. And she was biting me. Every.single.time.

So, yesterday, we started with giving her a sippy of milk and some puffs when she wakes up (6-6:30am) and she gets breakfast at around 8:15. This has worked well so far, no issues.

I'm surprisingly fine with all this and Abby seems totally unphased. She still likes to cuddle first thing in the morning so she sits on my lap on the couch for about 15-20 mins as opposed to getting down and playing with her toys, which is nice.

BF was HARD, very hard. I wanted to (and tried to) quit several times in the first few months but she wouldn't take a bottle. Ultimately, I'm glad we continued obviously for her health benefits and the ease of feeding, and closeness we shared.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for the support (especially in the beginning)!

Good job mama! Are you relieved she is done nursing? My LO is 5 weeks and my goal is at least a year but there are days I question if I'll be able to stick with it.

I do feel a little relieved i guess, but nursing became so easy after the first 3 months or so. She nursed much more efficiently by then. The beginning is hard but it DOES get easier and better (everyone says that and its absolutely true)

Congrats Lara! Good job! Glad you still get your cuddle time.

And armywife, it does get way way way easier and better. Around the 6 week mark it starts to get easier but by three months its a breeze :)
