Reducing Bfing

Postby 27jillfinallypreggo » Wed Aug 29, 2012 8:46 pm

So DS is 11 months and I have bf the whole time. I cut down pumping at work to 2x a day and at 11 months went to 1x a day. I'm now only getting 3-5 ounces. I'm not sure whether it is enough to make sure that while I'm with DS and nursing all day to make sure that I don't need to bottle feed. I have tons of frozen milk which I have been using to fill in the gap but I'm worried about the weekends and an upcoming trip where I don't really want to have to bring bottles--what do you think, will he get enough? P.S. Not that it is the same but he is eating 3 meals a day as well.

I guess the only way to tell is if you try nursing him for a day and see if he is satisfied. The baby is much more efficient at emptying you than a pump and your supply may go up when you are with him? The BTDT moms may have better advice for you.

I think you should try to keep the pumping session for as long as you can, just so that you have a decent enough supply on weekends, even though you're not getting a ton. That is my game plan, anyway, as I am about to go down to one session and supplement with formula, but hope to nurse exclusively outside of work hours for awhile longer.
