So I almost 9 months PP, but I am still having discomfort when DTD where I tore. I went a couple months ago for this and they found that I had a thick band of fibrous tissue, kind of like scar tissue where I tore. They tried treating it with silver nitrate a couple of times. It made it smaller, but didn't heal it all the way. So I went yesterday and they said because I'm breastfeeding I have lowered estrogen which makes it more difficult for that area to heal. So if the estrogen cream she gave me doesn't heal it in the next 2 weeks I have to have surgery to have the scar tissue cut out and get restitched. She said it will be like healing from an episotomy. I was like great, one baby, two times getting stitches down there!

:( I'm sorry to hear that! What a bummer that would be. Hope the cream heals it for you quickly!

I still have pain, too (at 13 months, although it's certainly much better than it was). And I think I probably have a similar band of tissue. I should probably get that checked out too...

Interesting. Why can't you keep using the cream in the meantime and wait for surgery until well after breastfeeding if it doesn't work fast enough? Maybe your body would eventually heal it. I think I might be in the same boat if it helps. I also haven't been back to see my doctor. FX the cream helps!!

I think you can only use estrogen cream for a certain amount of time. With hormonal treatments if you use them too much your body will think it doesn't need to make that hormone any more. Plus, i would rather get this resolved ASAP as I have no desire to be intimate with my husband :(

Oh no, that sounds awful! Definitely hoping that the cream helps and that you can get back to normal soon! Let us know how things go.

I hope the cream helps hon. I'm scared of even attempting DTD. It'll have been 8 months by the time DH gets back and I'm sure it won't feel too great. How bad was your tear with your baby?

It was only second degree, but part of the issue is that I'm anemic which hinders healing she said.

I dunno what to tell you about DTD 8 months PP for the first time...except take it slow and lots of lube!

Healing! Wahoo! no surgery! just keep up with the estrogen for 6 weeks and go back if I'm still having issues after.
