Estrogen patch affecting supply?

Postby murphyblue » Sun Oct 14, 2012 2:49 pm

I have been exclusively pumping for my 4-week old daughter. On Thursday I started using Vivelle DOT (Estrogen patch) for PPD. Since then I've noticed a reduction in my supply; it takes longer for the pump to get milk out, and I get noticeably less each time. Prior to this weekend I was pumping about 5-6 oz. per session, now it's down to 3.5-4.

Will my body get used to the estrogen and then the supply will even out? Or will I need to stop using the patch?

It could be. I know some people have issues with BCP affecting supply. I would call your LC or OB/GYN and see what they say.
