Breast yeast, the pain is unbearable!!!

Postby bethcoop » Tue Feb 19, 2013 1:57 pm

I exclusively pump but did nurse for the first 2 weeks, have been having breast/ nipple pain, I thought it was from pumping , LO was just diagnosed with oral thrush and yeast diaper rash. So, I thought maybe I have yeast, called OBand given Diflucan 100mg twice daily for 2 weeks. On day 5 now and nipples feel a bit better but breasts feel the same or worse( but I did also go from 6 pumping sessions to 4)
I see my OB tomorrow. I plan to slowly stop pumping because of this. I can't enjoy my baby as much because I am in so much pain.
I would love to hear any other experiences with this. It's so painful. My breasts are super tender plus the sharp burning pain.
Makes me sad though cause I know breast milk is best.

One of my dear friends went through this for about three months.... The best thing to do, albeit painful, is to keep emptying your breast as often as possible. Taking probiotics for you and lo to replace the good bacteria that the antibiotics killed off. Also look into a candida diet (mostly cutting sugar) as that is what yeast feeds off of.

Hope you get some relief!!!
