Swim Diaper

Postby medicalkiss » Mon Mar 21, 2011 8:03 pm

Hi all!

I dont cloth diaper right now, but it is mostly because DH just wont do it, and he is with the girls during the day (twins 4 mo). But now we are heading into warmer months and I need a good swimmer diaper for them. I figure this is the best opportunity to get something reusable! My girls are 14lbs, so I need something that will work for lil ones. Any help is appreciated. I am looking for something that will go under a suit they have and maybe a stand-alone one too.

I wouldn't worry too much about the brand of swim diaper. Basically all it is is a poop catcher, same as the disposable ones. So as long as it's snug around the legs and waist, it'll do the job. It doesn't really need to be absorbent.

You might look at your local swim school. Mine requires babies in the water babies classes to wear cloth because the sposies gum up the filters. That way you could even try it on your child to check the fit.

We used bummis swim diaper last summer. All the disposable swim diapers just catch poo and not pee. Bummis swim diapers come in really cute prints.

Haven't used either yet, but I have a Bummis and an Iplay swim diaper. IPlay has some padding which seems like it could absorb a pee or two. Obviously once it's wet it won't make a difference. The IPlay also seems to run small and is just a pull-up, whereas the Bummis has velcro tabs and goes on just like a diaper cover.

Our swim school sells iplay, and they've worked well. It would be awesome to have it built into the swim trunks though.
