Snappis and pins

Postby stefanielynn » Thu Mar 31, 2011 8:16 am

HELP! I cannot for the life of me figure those things out. I can't get the pins to go through my prefolds (got some Ivory soap but haven't tried it yet) and the Snappis just will not grip onto them. I think I've got it and then they pop right off. I've resorted to tri-folding which works okay, but I'm getting poo on my covers and it's resulting in my having to do diaper laundry everyday. What am I doing wrong??

What kind of prefolds do you have? Snapis don't work well with things like bamboo velour.

As for pins, the soap helps for sure, but I never did get comfortable with pins so I went back to snapis.

Strange. I have those too and snapis seem to work. When I put mine on, I strech them a little farther than I think they need to go, then as they pull back, they snag the fabric and stay there. I'm not sure how else to describe it.

Have you tried looking for a snapi video on youtube? Not sure if there is such a thing, just a thought.

I got a diaper Snappi'd! I was so proud of myself that my hubby thinks I'm nuts. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a mess in the cover, but at least I'm making progress now. :)

ditto this. You tube should help you a lot. Once you get the hang of snappis, it will just seem natural fastening them.

I have bought pins from several places and the only ones that seem to work right are from Substainablebabyish. I think some are just too dull. I don't like snappis because they do not hold the prefold on like pins.

did you stretch your Snappis? I read somewhere that you're supposed to stretch them before using them. Just hold the ends and pull - it helps with the elasticity. Yours may be too rigid and that's why they're popping off?

I have some pins but never tried to use them for fear of sticking the baby. Mine went right into my sewing box - they're GREAT for threading though drawstrings ;)
