Stipping with an HE washer question

Postby Syrahfina » Tue Apr 12, 2011 6:02 am

How do you do it? I know to use blue Dawn, which I did before we got a new washer.

I've gotten some used newborn diapers for DD on the way and I want to strip them, but I'm not sure how with my new HE washer.

Doesn't Dawn cause too many suds for the HE washers? How do you all do it?

I had to strip my diapers when DH put a dryer sheet in with them and they were all repelling. I was afraid to use Dawn and someone told me it would void the warranty. I asked my local diaper shop and they suggested a soak in Rockin Green. It worked great! I just started my wash as usual, and pushed pause after 15 minutes or so and let them soak for 2 hours, and the started the wash over again with two extra rinses.

I have an he & am horrified to use dawn in it.

I have stripped prefolds & other cloth that doesnt contain PUL by putting in boiling water with dawn, then rinsing well & putting in the washer to run several hot washed with no detergent. That works very well for me.
