Size Question for CD for nb/infant

Postby mommyofgirls » Sun May 15, 2011 8:11 am

I clothed diapered my 3rd from 4months up. I only have FB in either OS or medum. They are too big for 5week old as she's not even 9lbs. I weighed her at home and if my scale is correct she was 8lbs 5oz beginning of the week. I'm BF'ing so she poops at least 10 times a day. I'm just about out of sposies I recieved as gifts. She wears a Size 1 in sposies. Thinking about going to cloth until she fits into the ones I have. What size would she be XS or small you think? Also what kind/brand did you really like for this stage?

You would do great in Fuzzi Bunz size small - they fit from 7 to 18 lbs, that way, they would fit now & would fit longer. (xsmall fits 4-12 lbs)

Remember, I offer discount for any of the ladies on this site w/ code twwcloth05

I used xs pfs with covers. BGs and FBs, even size xs, leaked when mine was a nb. Pfs were the only thing that worked.

Thanks ladies! I've been researching lots.
Cneal thanks! I've read the fb's small's are big compared to BG. I dfidn't know what you thought.
I took Ella to the Dr. yesterday and she's 9lbs :D I want something as trim as possible so she can fit into the summer clothes she has. Anymore thoughts?

I was thinking about getting some XS's if she can wear them for a month and a dozen BG smalls.
What do you all think??

I used the small AMP Duo on my daughter when she was about 10lbs, and I imagine it would have fit her if she were smaller ( I didn't start CDing til she was a month old) but my all-time favorite for newborns is the AMP small AIO!! It is teeny enough for a newborn, but also grew with my daughter til 4 or 5 months. I loved it way more than my small BG AIO. AMP is my absolute favorite diaper brand, and inspired me to start my website so they could gain some popularity in America! Check them out at http://www.beautifulbabygear.com!

Hey! Yeah, compared to the BGs, the Fuzzi bunz smalls are bigger. The FB xsmalls fit 4-12 lbs & it sounds like you want that trim fit. OH - you know what! I bet you would LOVE the Tini Fit diaper! It is the newborn version of the Bummis Easy Fit - it is like an All in One & a pocket at the same time, (it is a stuffable pocket, but the "pocket portion" is all one long peice sewn in that you just stuff the long tail in. It makes it really easy & quick to dry. It is bamboo & super super trim fitting. It comes with an extra microfiber stuffer with the Tini Fit for night, etc. Fits 5-14 lbs. If you want to see how they stuff & work, you can watch a video on my website under "All in Ones" Easy Fit Diaper. But here is the link to the Tini Fit. Plus it is probably trimmer fitting than any diaper I've ever used & would take you a little longer to 14lbs (some say 16 lbs)

Oh - FYI - these are probably the absolute easiest to get messy poops off of. My DH loved it when DS was wearing one of these bc he swore it just came right off (it does).

We did GMD PFs orange edge (NB size) with Thirsties size 1 covers. He was 8 lbs 2 oz at birth, and we started when he was a week old. they worked fine. I actually wish I hadn't gotten so many NB size. He was out of them in a few weeks and he would have fit into the size small, yellow edge, pretty quickly. They would have been big, but they would have fit.

Okay so I bought:
a dozen organic GMD orange edge prefolds-used
a handful of BG xs AIO used
8 new BG Small AIO
I had 3 BG OS from my old stash
3 FB XS
a dozen osocozy "better fit" prefolds(work just as awesome as GMD btw)

So Ella had a HUGE growth spurt. She just grew into size 3 months a week and a half ago and now they just fit! She's almost to 3-6 months now. The GMD orange edge are too small as of yesterday and so are the BG xs's. Blah! TG you can resell cloth diapers! I got 3 FB's XS new off ebay. They are cut VERY small. Only 10in. from top to bottom. I think they were seconds or a bad batch I'm not sure. They are way too small also. I belive Ella is 10lb something. Maybe 11lbs.

The BG small AIO fit great and found a good deal on those as I know they are discountinued(what a shame!). I bought a lot of 15 of them. Plus I bought 3 bamboo AIO's as well new. I'm addicted to hynea cart!! OMG! My DH is gonna flip oh well! Love the wcking on BG's.

I really loved the GMD and Osocozy better fit but as soon as she pee's she crys. Which is like every 15 minutes litterally. I don't like that. She's apparently a heavy wetter. My first to be  Anyway as cheap and easy as they are I don't think I want to buy the yellow edge.

Are fitteds the same way with the pee'ing? Are the just super wet/damp.

I have dabbeled a little on hynea cart I bought a s'bish(which is bulky like a GM which I hate) so not impressed with that. Also bought a Muttaquin haven't got it yet. I also bought a totsbots bumboozle or something like that...

CNeal- I want to try a Easyfit but they are pricey! Maybe I will buy when she fits in OS better. I have 3 OS BG and they fit but are really bulky and are my last resort idapers right now. All my OS FB's (which is most of my old stash) are wayyyy to big and she pee's out the leg.

I've heard great things about Tini Fit, but they're probably close to too small for your LO right now. I want to get some of those when we have a 3rd. Prefolds don't give the stay dry feel the way pockets and AIOs do because they don't have that fleece layer between the absorbent core and your LO to wick away moisture. So yeah, pockets and AIOs are probably the way to go. I love fitteds, but you'll probably have the same problem with those as the prefolds.

HEY! Actually, If she has had that type of growth spurt, the Easy Fits would probably fit her already. You would not want to go with the tini fits, it would be a waste of money for the short amount of time she would fit into them IMO. The Easy Fits are the most trim fittins of all the one sized diapers I've tried, I bet they would fit. Also, you will like the bamboozle (if you got a size one, you wont be upset, the material really does stretch!!!)

& yeah, the fb xsmalls are really tiny, which was why I recommended the smalls, they go to 18 pounds, and the One Size fuzzi Bunz are larger fitting in the legs than the bumGenius are. So Many quirks of different diapers to deal with...
OOHH - have you tried the sweet pea prefold?? I just got them & I am in LOVE (and I am a super fan of GMD). The infant size is comparable to the yellow edge GMD, but they are a tad wider, so I think they would fit a bit better longer if you are using a snappi. They quilt up great & are super super soft!!!
