Newborn in cloth...infected belly button!

Postby cmv_in_sweden » Wed Jun 01, 2011 4:54 am

I was so excited to cloth diaper Mason, who is 2 weeks old today. I had him in cloth during the day and sposies at night since we don't have enough of the right sized diapers for 24 hours a day! As of today, his umbilical stump is still attached and oozing and kind of gross smelling. I'm pretty sure his big old diapers rubbed it and the friction caused the problem! Poor guy! We go to the pediatrician tomorrow, so we'll see what he says. Anyone else ever have a problem with the umbilical stump after their LO was born??

I didn't have a problem, but DD2 (6mos now)'s belly button looked kinda nasty and smelled a bit, and I had asked the doctor about it, but it was fine, and she healed up just fine.
