Any BG Flip reviews?

Postby wife4life » Thu Jun 30, 2011 11:32 am

I am thinking about doing this as our next step. We are outgrowing our GMD orange edges and thirsties xs covers. We have 13 thirsties duo diapers and a few one sizes. I am thinking about the Flip system that we'll begin to use AFTER she outgrows the duo diapers. Any thoughts on these? Snaps or Aplix, fit, absorbancy, ease of use???

I'd like to know, too! I'm considering a day pack.

A concern I have is that the inserts just lay inside, right? DD has such runny EBF poo, that I'm sure anytime she poo'd I'd have to wash the cover. :?

I have a few covers and the Stay Dry inserts. The covers don't fit on DS just yet and he's just over 11 lbs. The inserts work really well, but they almost always wiggle around in the cover. For DS1 (who is 2) I usually use the insert with a Hemp Babies underneath. It helps absorb and keeps the Flip insert in place. For BF poo, I'd worry that there aren't any gussets, but I don't have any experience with the newborn and EBF in Flips. To be perfectly honest, if you are looking for an affordable option that has a stay dry aspect to it, then Flip is probably a good option. If you don't really care about the Stay Dry part, then I think prefolds and Thirsties duo covers are the way to go.

Just my 2 cents! Hope it helps.

Flip covers are my fave cover! I have the organic inserts. I like them a lot. I think they are easy to use. Not sure how well it would hold ebf poo in since it doesn't have double gussets. But for an older baby, definitely a great diaper system.

I carry the Flips & the Flip Freedom sale started yesterday - 15% off all Flips until July 5th, plus, I give all mamas on here another 5% off with the code at the bottom, so you could honestly rack almost 20% off flips right now!http://www.mybabywearscloth.com/category_93/Flip-Diapers.htm

But, if you are really worried about the ebf poo, you could try Sweet Pea Covers. They are one size covers, double gussets, VERY trim, snaps & hold in absolutely everything! They are great with prefolds or we use them with prefolds & a hemp insert for a nighttime dipe sometimes for my heavy wetter. They are only $10.95. Plus, use the code & get 5% off those too!

I have a sweat pea cover and like it. I also like their one-size diaper.

stuckunderhere uses them and raves about them. I'm not CDing yet, but they look like a really good option.

I LOVE flip covers. I prefer aplix as the snaps don't give my DD a good fit as her belly is huge. ^The organic insert is bulky a prefold is about the same but the organic is very soft. Overall I feel like I wasted money trying out the organic as I already had GMD yellow prefolds anyway. The staydry is ok just not a favorite. I prefer my flip covers over my thirsties. I started using these covers at 6 weeks old and fit great on the smallest setting.

Glad to read some reviews on the Flip system since I'm debating about selling them on my site :)

Another hyrbid/AI2 option are the Best Bottom Diapers and GroVia Diapers. Both of those have snaps that hold the soaker in place so you don't have to worry about it moving around like you might on the Flip?
