Well phooey, velcro

Postby stefanielynn » Tue Sep 20, 2011 5:30 am

I love my velcro dipes. they are so easy to get on and off, and night time changes are so much easier when I can't see what I'm doing. But for the last month, Tea has been pulling on the tabs and removing her diapers! I thought keeping them covered so she couldn't get to them would help, but nope! The girl has figured out how to undo them THROUGH HER CLOTHES now. Sigh...I really dislike snaps. Guess I better learn to like them. :?

I had to give up Velcro too. Ds liked to take his off an potty in his bed. It was a mess.

I did test out a fortress diaper from wahm bug on a rug. That thing os excellent and he can't get it off. It has velcro wrapped around and snaps in the back. She's on fb if you wanna check it out. :)

I will check that out--thanks!

Yesterday was really what got me. I was trying a pocket I hadn't used before, so I put a Thirsties cover over the top (I have a hard time trusting pockets...no reason other than I've been a PF/cover girl for the last 5 months!). She took the cover completely off and then had half of the pocket undone and was chewing on the velcro tab. My 5-year-old found her (she was supposed to be napping and he was supposed to not be in my room... ) and yelled "Mommy! I can see Teagan's butt!" Totally thought he was being an overdramatic 5-year-old...nope.

Yeah, DD can undo Velcro, too. She can also undo sposies (she wears them at night), but I'm ok as long as I put pants over them. Yours must be persistent to take them off under her clothes!

So I usually use snaps now. Although... DD has also managed to take those off once or twice. :?

I loved my velrco diapers, but I gave up on them when DD #1 was just about the same age, she was taking them off or they were just starting to wick away. Velcro diapers are way over rated anyways..... You will learn to love the snaps once you get more accustomed to them. In the end , the snaps will hold up much better and will last you much longer. Pound for pound they really are a much better investment.

Thanks! My next covers will definitely be snaps. I'm sure it's like everthing else CD; once I get used to it, i will love it!

All my newborn stuff was velcro which worked great! I hated how it was getting less sticky though so I switched to snaps for the next size up. I'm so glad I did because her one velcro cover we still have is ALWAYS ripped open through her clothes. She doesn't even attempt it with the snaps. LoL Heck, sometimes I can't even get the darn things open.
