Does Cotton Babies use crummy velcro?

Postby stefanielynn » Sat Nov 05, 2011 6:41 am

I like my BGs, but I feel like the velcro quality is, frankly, crap. I have some AIOs that I bought brand new. The velcro on my mediums, which I just started using about 6 weeks ago, just doesn't look good. It's yellowing, curling, the wash tabs have already lost their stick. The smalls that I've used since she was about a month old are the same, and wore out about as quickly. But then I have my Thirsties and Bummis covers, which are washed every 2-3 days just like my BGs but are used 8-10-12 times in that 2-3 day period as opposed to the one time the AIOs are used (and I am using the same Thirsties duos I have since she was born!) and they look great. I just replaced the velco on some of my BGOS with the Cotton Babies repair kits 3 weeks ago, and those are starting to curl already. I'm quite annoyed. I almost exclusively line dry, my AIOs and pockets went through the dryer for the first time this week because I had to strip and by the time all the suds were out it was too late to hang them. I hung my covers in the laundry room.

Is it just me? Are all pockets/AIOs like this? I have a Swaddlebees OS pocket that still has great looking velcro, so I'm really thinking it's a BG/Cotton Babies thing. :?

I had some 3.0 BG pockets that I used for a long time that don't have any issue but I know that some people have had issues with them not lasting as long as others.

They have since discontinued the AIO (they are coming out with a new one sized AIO) and their 3.0's and the new 4.0 have a different kind of hook and loop that is supposed to be alot better.

Sorry you are having so many issues.. If you are fed up you could always just switch to snaps or have your diapers converted to snaps there are several people that will do it for you on hyena cart or if you are craft you can find tutorials and buy a snap pliers and DIY

I knew they had discontinued the AIO (that's the reason I have some...I got them while they were $10/each!), but I didn't know they had upgraded their hook and loop on the 4.0s. That is great to know!

I'm not too worried about it. I've decided all future diapers I order will be snaps simply because DD is a velcro removing champ, even through her clothes. For now I'm not thinking about replacing with snaps, but we still have a year+ until PTing, so we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the reply!
