Long, skinny babies?

Postby stefanielynn » Tue Nov 22, 2011 2:24 pm

Favorite diapers? My daughter is long (70th %ile at her 6 month) and thin (25th-ish). She doesn't have the fatso baby thighs, and in the last few weeks I'm starting to have a hard time avoiding leaks around the legs. I just don't think the diapers are tight enough around there. :( Our problem diapers right now: BG 3.0s, BG AIOs, GroBaby, and Swaddlebees pockets. What's working is a Kushies cover over any fitted. I also put the covers over her pockets/AIOs at night to give that extra security, but I would love to be able to use a diaper that's not supposed to need a cover without a cover, KWIM??

Is it Fuzzibunz and Charile Banana with the adjustable elastic? I may have to give one of those a try. :?

I have a friend who swore by the fuzzibunz sized diapers. Her kid had the skinniest legs!

I have a fairly skinny LO (not tiny but def not chubby!) Actually, we still primarily use Thirsties velcro covers and PFs and no leaks. The velcro allows for exact fit. We also use Kawaii pockets at night and no leaks there either. The legs fit snugly, but don't leave marks.

ETA: Haven't heard such good things about Fuzzibunz, but that was from a friend of mine and she has a chunkster!

Thanks for the suggestions! We've been using the Thirsties Dou size 1s and GMD PFs, but have been undecided about whether to continue (she has very nearly outgrown them). The velcro has been tricky because she undoes it--even through her clothes!!!--and getting PFs on her squirmy bottom is getting harder. BUT we never have problems with leaking and I love how easy cotton is to care for and how gentle it is on her bum. I think I'm leaning towards ordering a dozen red edge and trying some new types--Fuzzibunz, Kawaii, FLIP, etc.

yea the fuzzibuns you are able to adjust the leg holes independently so that might be a good place to start, I haven't had any experience with it but it does sound like you just need a different diaper.

I'm a little frustrated because I *thought* I had every diaper I would need until PT. But at the same time, I can't be too upset at the thought of new fluff.

Loved FB on DD. She has little chicken legs lol. I haven't tried the newer version though...DD has already potty trained.

Love the red edge PFs! my LO has been in them for like 6 months! They still fit fine and he's over 12 months now.

LOVE the Charlie Banana diapers. They are similar to FuzziBunz with the elastic legs, but the pocket stuffs in front so you don't have to get poopy hands, lol. DD is also long and skinny. Last appt she was 30th for weight and 90th for height. She has little chicken legs. We haven't had any leaks with the CB's, we set the legs to XS.

Edit- just had her 4 month appt today. She is 15th for weight and 90th for height so she is very long and very skinny. Charlie Banana's still the only one that gets tight around her legs. :)
