washing diapers

Postby Aug05Dec11mommy » Fri Jan 06, 2012 6:36 pm

I am a little nervous to start cding bc I feel like my washer sucks. Kennedy had an explosion on the changing table the other day and I had to wash her cloths, 2 blankets and the cover. I washed them and noticed that there is still bright yellow stains on the items. ( we are ebf) I was told that ebf poop comes right out. I washed the stuff in all baby with a tiny bit of oxyclean. warm water, cold rinse. Did I do something wrong with washing these things?
I am now scared to use the cloth diapers bc I feel like my washer wont get them clean enough and Kennedy will then have issues with rashes or we will have issues with stinky diapers. Any suggestions??

I totally know what you mean! I didn't start CDing until DD was almost a year, so I never dealt with EBF baby poo on cloth dipes-- but I most definitely have more than a few stained items of clothing from her crazy yellow newborn poops! Not sure if i should have pre-treated all the poop stains with something before washing or what, but I'll definitely be more mindful of laundry when DD#2 gets here in April!

From what i understand.. EBF poop will wash out completely but it will stain too. They stains usually will sun out easily if you lay them out in the sun if they bother you too much.

The stains aren't anything to worry about .

EBF poop does wash out but usually leaves nasty stains. Nothing a few hours in the sun won;t get rid of though. :)

I agree--totally normal! EBF poop stains. I hang my diapers in the sun (you can do the same with the clothes, when they are still wet!) and the stains come right out. :)
