Very cute pictures - your daughter is a doll. I am noticing focus issues, though. 1 and 2, the focus fell on the flower. 3 is the best, focus-wise, but could be better. Do you know how to toggle your focus points? You want to get the eye furthest away from you in focus.

She's cute! Yeah, the focus definitely fell on the flower. If you have it set to automatic focus, it will simply focus on whatever is closest (the flower). I suggest checking out your manual. There is a way to set your camera so that you can pick the focus point.

Do you have a Canon or a Nikon? I don't think Canon has a D40 (not positive though). Nikon has a D40 model, however. If it's a Nikon, I can help you out as I have two Nikons (D50 and D90).

I think Canon's is 40D? Look on your camera for a button that has a square containing 5 dots in a cross pattern. See link http://www.megapixel.net/reviews/canon- ... trols2.jpg - it is next to the trash can logo. (My toggle button is located higher up and to the right of the camera). With your camera on and ready to shoot, press that button. Then use your arrow keys or your wheel up top to move the focus point where you want it. It takes a lot of practice to toggle and shoot a baby/toddler at the same time but you'll be so glad you learned how to do it. So - the idea to get that little red dot exactly over what you want in focus - and with people, it is always the eyes.

Please let me know if this makes sense!
