Canon 430EX II vs Nissin Di622 speedlite

Postby Carnelian » Thu May 20, 2010 2:37 pm

Hi Ladies

Have you heard much about the Nissin speedlite Di622 ?
I have a Canon 450D and have been saving up for a speedlite for a while. I was saving for the Canon flash but this one is about NZD$200 cheaper and seems very good.
I'm a little torn.....

I've read reviews and it sounds great but some people say you might outgrow it etc....
The only thing it doesn't seem to have which is similar to the Canon is the LCD screen at the back, it recycles SLIGHTLY slower and it doesn't have Canon's wireless E-TTL system. I'm only a hobby photographer and mostly just want portraits of people and especially my son and new baby on the way.

What do you think? TIA

I can't really say on which to go for :dunno: Is there any way you can rent the other one and try it out? Also I'm jealous I want a speedlite or OCF.

I can't help much because I haven't tried the nissin one, but I love my 430ex. I shot my first wedding a couple of months ago and found it to recycle really quickly and SILENTLY (no whine at all). I still have not figured out all the features, so I definitely have to grow into it. And it did really well on batteries. I used them all day and it was still going strong. I mostly just take portraits of my son though too. :)
