Buying from EBay

Postby puddingpop » Wed May 26, 2010 10:58 pm

I'm thinking of getting an SB-600 speedlight. I can get a student discount from B&H but it's not much and would still be about 211 (not much considering it's 219.95). Plus I would still have to pay the shipping on it. So I'm thinking of getting it from Ebay. There looks like some job deals. Have any of you gals bought photography gear from Ebay? I'm a little scared to do so.

I bought my Canon 50D from eBay. It was like new and I got a great deal on it. I'm kind of an eBay addict though. I buy/sell there all the time so I feel pretty comfortable with it.

Just be sure to buy from someone with awesome feedback and ask questions if something isn't clear in the description.

Good luck :)

when it comes to "electronics" and such...I am more comfortable buying new and getting a warranty.

You can find a lot of electronics on eBay that do have warranties. :) Definitely be careful who you buy from though!

If you buy from a reputable seller w/positive feedback, you should be fine. If the product is not as described, you can dispute it through Paypal and can get your money back if you win.

We have bought and sold tons of stuff on ebay and only had 1 bad transaction. DH disputed it and won. I even bought my car on ebay! I saved $5K! It's been a great car.

Babydreamer I have found you can get brand new with warranties products with authorized dealers on EBay. :)

I have found one Seller who states they are an authorized Nikon dealer, all products have warranties and has 100% positive feedback. The down side is so far the sellers who are like this have auctions that end in a price that is higher than B&H :( My plan is to purchase the speedlight by fall. I figure that will be the best. When I'm stuck inside all winter long, plenty of time to play with it then.
