1950s Vintage shoot

Postby blue-eden » Thu Jul 22, 2010 11:55 pm

My beautiful senior again, this time doing 1950s Vintage!

I talked to her on the phone and we agreed on a vintage shoot, with long flowy dress, hat, gloves, pearls, the whole thing! My thoughts went to Victorian -- hers went a whole other way! All good though, but I had to change my whole list of poses, light work, and Post Processing on the spot!

I also had to switch to the 85 mm lens, instead of the 35 which I had intended to shoot with, so some pics ended up with CA and I didn't get the effect I was going for....anyway....

Full set on my Flickr here:

All shot with the 85 mm 1.4. F 1.4, iso 200, SS varied.

My favourite. It breaks all the rules. I deliberately set her up with the blown sky behind her head and told her to pout.

These are really pretty! I think #4 is my favorite, it just flows and I like her expression. I'm not sure how I feel about the crop of the first two, just because her head is pretty much dead center of both photographs, but I'm not really sure what a better way to crop it would be.

I like the processing too!

Love breaking the "rules". Isn't that what art is all about? Lovely pictures!

Thanks! I have SO MANY pictures to edit from this shoot. I had two girls, in two locations -- I still haven't finished editing her friend from this location, plus I have the other backlit/field location ones to edit.

Next time, I'll take fewer photos!!! It's SO hard to narrow it down though!

Vic, this really was the best way to crop it, without losing the pretty leaves that frame her. I don't mind a centered photo once in a while, so I went with it!

Blue,
These are simply lovely. You are very talented. I think I like the first and the last ones the best.
Here is my only wish. You can tell me to shut up too, because it is your craft. I would have love to see some tighter poses, more on a light pin up side. A side of flirty, if you know what I mean. To me that is what her clothing dictates.
