Gorgeous golden light, two beautiful girls

Postby blue-eden » Mon Jul 26, 2010 11:26 pm

This is the second half of my shoot last Sunday. I still have to edit the second girl from the FIRST location, but I do have one to share from that portion. They look mostly like this:

Suggestions welcomed! I am working right now on posing, working with the light, and creativity now that I have focus, colour theory, and white balance down.

This girl has a condition where she cannot control her facial expressions, is very fidgety and distracted, doesn't take direction. So it was pretty hard to shoot with her.

Jasmine was awesome as always.
Shot with the 50 mm lens, iso 200 I think, probably around F 2.2-2.8, shutter varied.

These two were shot with the 35 mm 1.8 lens.

Thanks for looking!

I think I definitely lean more towards more dramatic lighting and posing, rich deep dark colours, and not the typical "look at the camera and smile" type photos. Luckily, my models are the same!!

Blue as usual beautiful shots :D Here's my thoughts

1
I don't like. Her face looks on the scary side.

2.
Is beautiful. I love the color and the pose. Great job!

3.
Is soulful. Love it!

4.
This too I love. Makes me think what is going on in her head. Good job!

5.
This is a little too centered for my taste. Maybe crop a little on the right.

6.
This is a little better, still too centered for me. Maybe crop a little on the left.

7.
Beautiful and perfect. Good job!

8.
Is so close to stunning. It is the darn grass grains that are framing her profile and under her lips, that bug the heck out of me.

9.
This one is stunning. I love it.

10.
This one is great too. Great job.

You are so very talented and I love seeing our work. Great job on this shoot Blue. Two, three, and four are my favorites because of the colors. :D

Thank you SO MUCH for the detailed CC!!!!

This was my first attempt shooting at this time of night, with this lighting, and then PPing it. Let me tell you -- it's tricky light!!! 8O

She was kind of scary, lol. But she's an artist (she posts her work on Deviant Art) and all her poses were so dramatic and artistic. I can't wait to share those ones with you when I get them PPed. There are only about 5, and like I said she didn't pose AT ALL but what I got I think she'll like.

I know about #8, is it bad that I deliberately put her out of focus and focused on the grass? Does it not work? Next time I'll focus on her instead (I'm going to shoot with her here again, next week probably, with a CHAIR this time).

These are not in camera crops, I have more room to work with. I actually don't mind centered crops, if they are still in the ROT (rule of thirds, head in the top third of the frame) but I do struggle with creative and nice cropping. Thank you!

#8 is my favorite. I think having the grass as the focus and not her makes it a brilliant photo and much more artistic :)

Beatiful lighting! That's a magical time of day that can make some amazing images.
