Photoshop and printing

Postby plumeriamommy » Fri Sep 24, 2010 9:32 pm

So I've been playing around in photoshop converting photos to CMYK for printing. Now my thing is where to print them. I found mpix.com, but when I go to print, the image looks scrambled and part of it is there. Am I doing something wrong?

In photoshop the photo looks perfect. I edited them first, then converted from RGB to CMYK. I just don't want to order prints only to find them all messed up.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Most photo labs have requirements and have their profile available for download. Some will even proof so you can get your color file to match exactly. The lab I'm looking into does this. First I want to get some to calibrate my screen. Any who I'm rambling....

There's a help area for mpix.com that goes over the problems your having. Here it is http://www.mpix.com/support/

Apparently it's because I have it as CMYK. I'm looking into some local palces so I can print them as they should be printed professionally. Thanks again!

When looking at labs here's some tips. You'll need their color profile or color space, file size requirements, the dpi requirement, is there a minimum order requirement, what type of paper are they printing on (you don't want to pay for prints and have them printed on poor quality paper), will the lab do a proof for color matching, ect.
I'm pretty sure, I will be using a Nations Photo Lab. So far they seem pretty professional, and more than helpful. I've called their customer service before, and they were more than helpful, when I was doing some homework for a class I had.
