How do you store your digital pictures?

Postby sunnib » Mon Oct 18, 2010 11:21 am

I have a lot of digital pictures that I don’t necessarily want prints of, at least not right now. Right now I have them in files on my desktop but that is taking up a lot of room. Should I put them on an external hard drive or is it okay to upload them to a website that stores pictures? I am not worried about people seeing them on a webpage I am just worried about the site shutting down and the users losing their pictures. How do you store all your pictures?

I burn all mine to a disc so they aren't clogging up my laptop.

Burned onto discs, and backed up on an external. And I really need a new one, thanks for the reminder!!!

I store my images on a second hard drive that does nothing but hold documents and image files and is completely seperate from the drive that has the operating system and program files in case I get a virus. I'm pretty lucky because my DH is an IT Director so I don't have to worry about that sort of thing. I also have them all backed up on a server and external hard drive. So basically I have them in three places. You can't go overboard with back up files.

I back mine up to an external hard drive. I used to burn them all to disc too but the amount of discs I had was getting out of control!

Online as well as on an external harddrive that lives in a fireproof safe. I also burn CDs for client shoots and keep them in a folder in a filing cabinet for quick access.
