Editing Help from the Pros

Postby Christie2007 » Fri Nov 05, 2010 7:02 pm

Hey ladies....I am wondering if you can give me some pointers on editing. I need to learn how to edit out blemishes, stretch marks, that kind of thing, but make it look natural and not fake.

PLEASE help!!! Step by step if you can! TIA!!!

This is a great site for skin retouching tutorials in video: http://www.christyschuler.com/retouching.html

She's got tutorials for skin, eyes, etc along the bottom of the tutorial page and it's step-by-step video for photoshop. I think she uses a slightly older version, but it's easy enough to do the same steps in the newer versions.

SO good youre learning on a CS program! :-)

My fave free ones are these:

Her retouching actions and such are fab. If youre willing to spend $$$ on a professional program though, consider buying Portraiture.

Ok, my husband bought me CS5 and Portraiture, but I am not entirely certain how to use it. All of my pictures look too glamor shotish, if that makes sense.

So, how do I use it to make them more natural looking??

when youre selecting the brushes you use, you can tone down the opacity and flow (upper top center of the menu) I usually do about 20-30% opacity for people and the flow around 85%. But differnt pics have different needs, so you just have to play with it unitl you find a good balance.

Thanks so much!! It looks like a really good little addition. I definitely need to play around with it to figure things out cause I just stared at it at first with a "uuuhhh" look on my face, haha.

And should I run it before or after I have made other edits to it?
