Postby memi » Wed Dec 08, 2010 11:52 am

I finally got my first DSLR camera. I started small with the Cannon Rebel xs 1000D. Any tips or suggestions??!! I have been mostly doing trial and error, and shooting in manual (I only got it late monday night).

Thanks in advance!! :D

Congrats on your new camera! I love my Rebel. If you want to slowly venture into manual shooting try using the AP setting. You set the apeture you want and it will automatically adjust the shutter speed.

I don't know if it's just me but I struggle with focus on that camera and lenses. So pay attention to that when you are shooting. I find that I have to switch to manual focus pretty often but I don't really trust my eyes. lol

I would recommend taking a class through your local parks and rec or something similar. I finally did that this fall, after having my camera for 2 1/2 years. I learned so much that I was kicking myself for not doing it sooner.

The class really helped me understand how to use my camera better and I can say that my pictures have improved dramatically, esp my focus.

The rest comes w/practice. Practice, practice, practice!
