I am willing to spend $700-$900ish on a new Nikon. I have a D3000 which is... eh. Dont get me wrong, I have been very pleased with some of the pictures but I need something more to play around with & the D3000 is very beginners basic. I have always been a huge Nikon fan, any recommendations?

What about the D90? That is right in that price range and it would be a step up. You could also look into a used higher end camera that's in that price range. I'm going to get the D7000, but the body is about $1,200.

Thanks for the reply :)

I was actualy really leaning towards the D90.. but was undecided and didn't know if i was overlooking anything.
The D7000 looks amazing! I may try to stretch my dollars (and my husband) and put that on the list :P

Have you thought about purchasing a used camera body? There are several used dealers (KEH being one of them my father, who does a different kind of photography has been using them for years, as have I, they are FANTASTIC and what they say you get, is what you get) and getting more bang for your buck?

I have the D40 and really really love it. I have the kit lenses and just purchased a 50mm 1.4 lens. I say....get a cheaper body and upgrade on the lens. Once you have that mastered, upgrade to a more expensive body.
