opinions on two cameras please

I really dont know anything about cameras or photography so I am looking for something I can learn with and that will take decent pictures in auto without much hassel but then can be used in a manual mode once I do learn more so I can experiment with that. The first one got an excellent review on youtube from a tech guy and the other I found after Kodak sent me a coupon lol.

The first is a Nikon Coolpix P100

The other is a Kodak EasyShare Z981

I would trust Nikon before Kodak but I haven't used either of them so I can't really offer sound advice.

I would go with nikon over kodak also. I haven't used either one but know a few people with the coolpix and they like it.

I can't say for that particular camera but it was my exp. with Kodak that there was a major delay between the time you press the button till it took the picture! I hated it and will never have a kodak again b/c of all the photo ops I missed...
