pretty girly! Just love her little face!

Looks nice! "I" prefer b&w to have a heavier black contrast and more brighter whites

I would second babydreamer... If you do a b/w conversion with a gradient map, you can easily pull your blacks and whites up to have less gray tones, and then adjust and readjust to your liking. Beautiful picture though.

:) Thank you ladies!!! I'll try that, I can never get b/w pics the way I want them. They always come out looking more gray.

I'm no pro, but the pic is gorgeous! I like it the way it is, but it may look even more awesome w/the suggestions made by pp!

I think it's nice!
You have plenty of blacks (you can see in her hair, the blacks are starting to already blend together) but you need some brighter whites and maybe some selective deepening of the midtones in her outfit.

pretty pretty girl with gorgeous eyes!

Everyone has their own style for BW, so it just depends on what pleases YOU :)

Personally, I like skin to have a more "real" feel, so I leave a lot of the midtones in there. I don't like the bleached out, super white, loss of definition skin that is popular with some photographers. I like the skin to look soft and kissable, with texture and some real colour, not whited out without any lines or details, and everybody looks pale. My dd is half Greek, so her skin has a beautiful olive tone. I'd rather not bleach out the tones in her skin, kwim?

Maybe because I started out with black and white film photography? I like the deep rich midtones and realism.

Here is something like I would do. I brightened her skin a bit, but left the midtones around the skin creases and around the shadows of her face, to give it shape. I prefer shadows and light to flat light.

I think both your edits are great, it just depends on which YOU prefer. :)

Sorry I accidentally sized it UP to 700 and made it larger and more pixelated.
I just added the new version, at the same size you posted (under 500 pixels)
