need an AWESOME point & shoot camera

Postby ~*~Amanda~*~ » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:02 pm

I've returned a bunch of cameras that just dont hold a flame to my old one that is dying a slow painful death after 5 years.... i had a samsung brand, so ive tried a bunch of their new ones and they are slower than my old one...

went to radio shack and picked up my old one 5 years ago just b/c it was on sale and got lucky that it was awesome!

i need a fast shutter speed, i hate that i push the button and like 3 seconds later it takes the picture  i want to capture that moment, not the moment 3 seconds later :(

if i have to go the DSLR route i will, but id rather a more compact camera to carry in my purse.

thanks!! :D
Image still happily RF at 25 lbs, 35 inches and almost 2 years old!

I have a nikon coolpix L18 that I take if I don't feel like carrying my DSLR. I don't think they make they model now. I paid $75 for it 3 years ago at Sams.

Here is what is on Sams website now. It is the older model L22 and is on sale for $70 - http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/produ ... od1650141#

Here is the newer model - http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/ ... X-L24.html

I have the Nikon Coolpix s550

It takes pretty decent pics for not being a dslr

I take my dslr to places that I don't want to lug my big camera to, but important places, or places where I really want to capture a great picture, I'll take my dslr.

The coolpix I have also has a great zoom!! I went to see Prince in concert and we were in the nose bleed section, but some of the pics I took of him was like he was standing right there!!

Thanks ladies! I went looking around today and I'm shocked that most places don't have their cameras powered to try out! Found a NIKON cool Pix af target, searched online and found it for $224 on Walmart.com vs $299 there!

I bought the Nikon Coolpix P7000 as my small camera to stick in my purse. I love it!

I have a Panasonic (dmx?) I will have to check the model number. It is small enough for purse put has an extendable Leica lense. It is great - I got it because it was supposed to be the closet you could get to a DSLR but still be small.
