I don't mean to impose, but here is another way to do the same thing ... but, I think it's a little easier. (I use Photoshop, so I'm not sure if this technique can be used with other programs.) Anyway, here's a really simple way to do the same thing:

Desaturate your picture before doing anything else. (image-adjust-desaturate)

Then go back over the areas that you want in color with the history brush tool (located below the regular paintbrush ... make sure you don't have the art history brush selected, just right-click on the brush to see which one is selected). I find it better to zoom in a lot so that I can really see the edges of what I am re-coloring. Also, it looks best if you use the "fuzzy" brush size. You can change it by clicking on the dot beside "brush" underneath the edit and image tabs at the top left corner. The "fuzzy" brush sizes are the second set of sizes that look blurry.

And, that's it. Pretty simple, huh? I think that this way and the lasso technique produce the same results, and it's just a matter of preference of one way or the other. HTH. :D

Thank you so much for posting this all of your pictures are adorable!!

One question though, how do you save the picture, I am clicking save and save as and it isn't saving. Do you know if you have to pay in order to save the picture or am I just not doing something right?
