originally, I didnt like this picture because of the flat colors and the crumbs on her face... so that was my main goal- and to give her eyes some pop

Lighten shadows 23%
Darken highlights 2%
Midtone contrast 0%

Color saturation +10%
Use spot healing tool to erase cracker crumbs and sweat beads
Use dodge/burn tools and spot healing tool to minimize eyebrow scar

Duplicate background (original) layer
Use dodge and burn tools to decrease under eye shadows

Select white under eyebrow hairs and create new layer
Select brush tool, settings: size 41px, mode: normal, opacity 22% spraypaint
Select skin color under eyebrows (with point sample), spray paint over white hairs
Clean up edge of right eyebrow/edge of face with eraser tool and blur tool

Zoom in close on upper eyelashes, use sharpen tool (13px, mode: darken, strength 100%)
Draw in some eyelashes on left eye, use sharpen and blur tools to match other lashes
Use sharpen tool at 88% to enhance lower eyelashes

Zoom in on eyes, select iris, Sharpen several times, use dodge tool to lighten slightly. Then use burn tool to darken pupil.
Done!

Good job! On the face, I would actually make the pupils bigger. I have one book that shows the difference and making the pupil bigger and adding highlights in the eyes (if their aren't any) will bring more life to the eyes and give them that sparkle!!

I'll be posting mine later today. We're taking pics of my kiddos today cause we need some updated ones. Plus I'll show you guys some advanced editing you can try. It's really cool and I just figured out how to do it!

Ok, when I get back this evening, I'll get the book and post what it say. I do it different ways because sometimes it doesn't look natural to me. But I'll post it tonight!

Okay, here is a pic from the bridals I'm editing at the moment. First one is unedited. Actually underexposed. And the second is the final output.

Lightened and adjusted color and contrast
Brightened her eyes and sharpened to give it "sparkle"
Added more veil to the corners to fill the pic
Brightened teeth
Put a slight blur over image to give it a dreamy look
Sharpened jewelry and rhinestones on veil to make them sparkle
Smoothed out her skin some and touched up wrinkles around eyes

If you want the steps on certain things let me know and I'll post them. most of the touching up is similar to what everyone else is doing.

Any additional input to enhance it more would be greatly appreciated!

Booboo and cassb- those are beautiful pictures. I desparetly want to know how to do this stuff... but tend to be too nervous to play around. It's my summer project, I think!

I went to Barnes and Noble and bought the book "Skin" by Lee Varis today... it seems to have the information I am looking for (not just the basics on how to use the software, like most guides).... I'll let you know how it works out! It was a little more than I wanted to spend, so hopefully it will be worth it :D

Cass, beautiful job with the brides pic! She looks like she's glowing! (in a good way )

Kristina- I used to get a little nervous doing the editing, but now I just save a copy of the original pic... that way if I totally botch the editing, I still have the original image to fall back on :)

So I'll be getting a refund tomorrow and placing my amazon order :? At least the book got good reviews on Amazon!

Hey I have that book! I bought it, looked at it for a bit and put it on my shelf then got real busy and forgot I had it! LOL. But yea it's a really good book from when I was looking through it. I'll have to get it out cause I need some instruction on a particular thing.

I totally just googled that book and it looks exciting. Kayla has such pale skin that I can never get it to look perfect. That and her blue eyes... red eye will be the death of me! i have off in the summer and plan to do this then, but photography talk gets me all excited to do it now

Is it possible for you to put some information on how to do it?
