What's the trick...

to exposing properly in high sun? I know that you can use the flash... should have done that today! I've taped my flash down becaue the latch is broken and I don't want to have it fixed because I'll be without my camera!! LOL I never use my flash, so it is typically useless to me.

Is that the only way to really expose properly. My brother mentioned once pointing the camera toward the ground in front of your subject before shooting them, which I should have done today, but I forgot (was taking pictures of Callum at the park).

What else can you do?

flash with a diffuser, Gary Fong makes a great one. Um,... POLARIZER!

Have them face away from the sun, toward the shade. (backlighting)
And find good dense shade if all else fails, not dappled shade though.

In most pictures Callum was facing the shade, but they still aren't that great. :? Not that I was planning on framing any of these pictures... it just bugs me! LOL

I will look into the polarizer! Thanks!

Oh YOU are the one that mentioned that!!! I bookmarked his site when I saw you mention that before. I totally want one of those!!! I've already told DH that I want one, so hopefully he'll get the hint and surprise me one of these days. Or I could just buy it myself, but I feel guilty feeding my obsession right now.
