Welcome, Meg! You're from my DD group, aren't you? :) So glad to hear your are a Christian! I hope you find a church soon. I have been in the same church since I was born, though I married someone from a different location and moved to his church, it's still the same one (just in a different state).

Stefanie--I am so happy your baby is thriving in there! Congratulations! :D

:hi: Megs! Congrats on your first baby!
Stephanie - congrats on getting to see baby & hear the heartbeat! Hearing the heartbeat for the very first time was always my favorite visit - even more than the u/s. Strange, i know, lol! :hb:
Thanks for the prayers on my mom. I feel a lot of peace about it, it's hard to explain. I really think everything is going to be ok. :)
My oldest son has been in bed all day. I think he's dehydrated. My oldest two have been swimming twice a day every day this week (except monday), so he's swallowed a lot of water (and who knows what was in it with two little boys swimming around...eww) & it's been crazy hot here (into the 100s). He's been laying in bed, guzzling water & sleeping. He's usually really hyper, so i would be lying if i said i wasn't enjoying the quiet.
On a good note, Gabe laughed for the first time today! I :hb: baby laughs!

what church/denomination? non-denom/church of Christ

what's your biggest struggle as a Christian mom? Protecting L's innocent ears from cussing soldiers. JR and I nit-pick and argue sometimes and I hate that. I need to be more patient and swallow my pride.

YES!!! My husband tries really hard to not curse, but as soon as he goes TDY or deploys we have to start ALL OVER again. Those military men just have the worst time keeping their language in check! The good thing is that he is in a class that frowns on cursing right now. They were tazed yesterday, and if they "mess up" they will be tazed again. I'm thinking he may come back with the best language of his life.

:hb: that!

I struggle w/ cursing also. It's SO weird bc I used to be such a goody two shoes & thought cursing was absolutely despicable. I have NO idea how or why it started. I wasn't even around it very much. I think it's just connected to my little temper & there isn't any other thing I can think of that will express my anger the same way. I don't have big temper out burts like ever, but it's when little things go wrong though out the day, it just throws me off & that's when I do it. What works for you guys? (your DHs I mean :) )... except for tazing of course! 8O

Dee - I have trouble with this sometimes, too. I used to cuss a lot when I strayed from God's path, so I've had to train myself not to do it. Sometimes I'll use other words in their place, like "sopapilla!" or something like that. Controlling my temper is my biggest stronghold, and I really don't want my kids to grow up hearing cussing!

Once DS got to the repeating phase, that really helped us. My husband's big check was when we were driving down the road and out of nowhere DS yelled out "F***!!!". The big word I have to watch is "stupid" (that's about as bad as my language gets, lol). I say "stupid cat" or "stupid dog" when they tick me off, especially now that I'm pregnant and tired and sick and irritable, and my son has started saying "Stupid Mom".

how many kids? 3 with 1 on the way.

what church/denomination? prefer Baptist or non-denom

sahm or working? SAHM

what's your biggest struggle as a Christian mom? Probably how we are going to school them, and discipline. We want to do private or homeschooling only....but I don't think we'll ever be able to afford 4 kids to go to private school, and I just don't see me homeschooling. This is so hard. But I know the Lord will lead us through this, and the best answer will be shown to us.

Cathy - AWwww Gabe laughed! That is so cute!!! Also, I've always known you as Cathy. Is your actual name Katie Jo? Just curiousl?!?!

Have you heard of University model schooling? It's b/t homeschool & private school. My friend does it & loves it. You send them twice a week & then do all the assignments w/ them the other days. It's also a lot cheaper. Just thought I would throw that out. :)

Dee, thank you for bringing university model schooling to my attention. I had no idea this even existed! Such a cool option for parents who want a faith-based curriculum without paying for private school or home schooling all on your own. DH and I are seriously interested in this. I guess we have a few years to decide though since our oldest is 2.

Dee I've never heard of it..but now I'll be checking into it for sure. It is so hard to decide what is the best way to teach your children...especially when all of the better options are so expensive. Thanks again!
