lightweight travel system?

Postby fiddlist » Wed Mar 04, 2009 12:46 pm

I was at baby depot today (I'm not going back there, they suck) and trying all the "travel system" type strollers and they are all SO heavy! Once I folded it up, I lifted it and tried to imagine taking it in and out of my car several times a day and I was like "no way." I have a bad back, so if I could find one that wasn't so heavy that would be great! I do have a normal umbrella stroller, but I wanted one that I could put a carseat in and/or the baby could sleep in lying down as an infant. Does anyone have anything that would fit this description? Also, one handed folding would be nice, too.

Combi's are known to be light weight and I think they sell one that fits a car seat, but I don't know if they sell it as a "system". You may be better off buying a carseat and finding a lightweight stroller that will work w/a car seat. I think there might be a Maclaren that adapts to a stroller. Another option in the beginning is to use a Snap N Go.

Here's a Combi. It's only 17.6 lbs.

I had the Chicco Cortina and it was much lighter than most of the Graco systems. I do recall that the Graco Metrolite was on the lighter side.
