17 months and going strong!

Postby MandyD » Wed Apr 20, 2011 1:29 am

Peyton & Carter were 17 months old on the 6th.
I am posting this because they came home from the hospital on Easter weekend last year after four months in the NICU! Not a day goes by that I don't look at them in complete awe, and know that they are two little miracles sent to us from God.
Peyton then smaller one of the two, with the grade 3 bleed on the left and the 2/3 bleed on the right runs not walks every where he goes. He can say several different words and sounds, and new one or two a day.
Carter no longer goes to PT, stands alone, pulls up on everything, pushes a little tike walker everywhere he wants to go outside now so his leg doesn't get scratched up, he also is babbling. He is more laid back than Peyton. He is the one that had the ductus fixed two weeks after birth.
We started getting RSV shots in October, might get one this month waiting on insurance to see if they will pay. A home health nurse comes to our house to give the boys the shot.
Peyton has had croup twice, and Carter once. Other than that, they boys are doing GREAT!!!!!!
I will post pictures when I have more time, but like I said before, my facebook account is not private. If you have time you can see them there. From birth until recent. Mandy Duran, in Carthage Texas!

You were in my DDC. My son was born a month after your boys on Jan 5,10. He spent nearly 5 months Nicu/picu and we are just a month shy of our 1 year anniversary of coming home.

I'm so happy to hear that your boys are doing well!!!! It can be such a long, lonely, painful road also filled with joy and a new awareness for life.

There are a gazillion of you on Facebook. If you'd like find me by email "nursebrandy08@yahoo.com" and add me. We can share triumphs and the like.

Congrads on the sucess with your preemies.... I always say that a preemies sucess relies a great deal on the love they get from their parents. There must be a ton of love from you you guys... Congrads from one preemie mom to another....

To have so few illnesses they're doing remarkably well!
Glad they no longer need the physio too. :D
Talia Grace: born Friday 13th of July, 2007, at 27w4d gestation, 700g/1.5lbs. Nursed for 4 years
and Violet Joy: born Thursday 19th, VBAC waterbirth, 39w2d, 3.35kg/7lbs 6oz, still a booby monster, just shared it with her big sister for 18 months.
