Would this be very hard for a novice? I know the basics of how to work a machine. That's about it.

I didn't watch the video but wanted to say Rag quilts are a great beginner project as they only require you to sew in a straight line. The longest part is all the snipping lol. So long as you can do a basic straight stitch you can do it!

Yes, that would be pretty easy! The trick to quilting without frustration is to cut your squares PERFECTLY and then make sure your seams are all the same width. You might want to practice on some scraps first but as long as you get the hang of following a straight line you'll do great! Remember, don't sew while frustrated or you'll just make more mistakes. Walk away and take a break and come back to it later.
