I went to the doctor on Tuesday June 5 for my 37 week check & everything was great. Doc said that i was 2-3cm dilated & about 50% effaced. He also told me that the baby seemed pretty big compared to my first & he would be totally ok with me delivering at any time. I felt great & continued feeling pretty good until about Thursday afternoon. I had started losing my mucous plug after my doctor visit, so i knew it was only a matter of time. About Thursday i started feeling kind of blah. Not sick, just a little under the weather. I got a big burst of energy on Friday, but still felt blah. So on Saturday (38 weeks) i told DH that it was time to take matters into our own hands. Let me tell you - it really does help to BD to get labor going! About 10 minutes after the BD session, i felt this strange feeling, like something was really tight in my abdomen. I immediately ran to the bathroom & halfway there i felt the pop & my water broke! About 30 minutes later the contractions started. They were about 20 minutes apart, so i got my bag ready & DS bag ready & we called my in-laws to let them know we were bringing him over. It was about 2am on Sunday the 10th. We dropped DS off & headed to the hospital. By the time we got there, my contractions were about 8 minutes apart, but still not to bad. They took me to triage & did all the blood work & checked me & i was at 4cm. They got my antibiotic started for the group b strep & moved me up to L&D. By this time, my contractions were about 3 minutes apart & i was miserable. I got my epidural at about 6am & was very happy. They called my doctor at about 6:30am, but nobody could get ahold of him (his day off) & they told me that one of the other docs in his practice may have to do the delivery. I didn't like that too much, but didn't worry either. They finally did get ahold of him & he reassured me that he would be there to deliver. I dilated to about a 5 & stalled out so they decided to put me on pitocin. I stayed at a 5 for hours, so they kept bumping up the pitocin. That did the trick & things started moving. I started feeling lots of pressure at about 12:30 & the nurse checked & i was at a 9 & fully effaced. She called my doctor to let him know. We did a couple of 'practice' pushes so the nurses could help baby out since he was sideways. They got him face down & told me to hang on. Even with the epidural all i wanted to do was push! The doctor got there (in his shorts & tshirt, lol!) at 12:50. I was at a 10, so he started doing the perineal massage for a few minutes. As soon as i started having a contraction, it was time to start pushing. After 4 rounds of pushing, Nathaniel Wayne made his entrance into this world! The cord was wrapped once around his neck, but other than that he was just perfect! He weighed in at 7lbs, 6oz., 20 inches & was born at 1:08pm. They let me hold him for about 10 minutes before they took him & weighed him & cleaned him. He has a headful of dark brown hair & for now has blue eyes. He's just beautiful.
We have had one setback, though. He has jaundice, but thank God that it wasn't so bad that he had to stay in the hospital. Home health brought a bed over to the house, so he's had to be under the lights since wednesday. Hopefully he will be able to come out from it tomorrow (friday). Otherwise, it was as great a labor & delivery as i could ask for. Other than back pain (from the epidural & from trying to do more than i should) i'm doing great. Of course the most important thing is that God blessed me with this wonderful, beautiful little guy. And for that i will be forever grateful & thankful.
Thanks for reading my long story & thanks for being such a wonderful, supportive community. I tell everyone i know about this site because it was so nice to have other women to talk to!

to the world little Nate
