Well, she started the ultrasound by saying, "First we're going to measure your cervix, and [something else I can't remember] and oh! Well, ok, there's baby and there's no mistaking that shot, you've got a boy!" I was shocked. I'm glad it was at the beginning of the ultrasound because I needed a minute to come to terms with what I was hearing. I'm not upset, just really really surprised! Now we have to figure out a name! I'm not totally set on Henry, but Russ likes it. I just really didn't see myself in this position!

Me too! I really need to make dinner and get everything ready before soccer practice. I have to leave here about 4:30. But baby is moving like crazy! I feel a ton with my hand too. And I keep checking here!

My mind is pretty blown ha! You had every single sign of carrying a girl. I guess that really goes to show how off the myths can be! Congrats on your baby boy!!! Think of it this way, if you have a boy first then he'll get to be the big brother to protect his future baby sister (and/or brother). Very exciting!

You'll agree on a name you both love! It took us a long time to agree on a boys name and we've been discussing it since last September haha. It helped to look up name meanings too. Did you find out how big he is right now?

I am still in shock lol. I was so positive it was a girl. Russ really didn't care what it was, but when she told us, he reached out and squeezed my leg. I was glad he couldn't see my face, because I did cry. It was an overwhelming moment, but I'm just glad to know who's in there!

Looks like he'll get his little dirt bike buddy. And it looks like maybe I will be willing to do the pregnancy thing again in a few years to try for a little sister lol.

He's measuring 20 weeks 1 day, so 1 day off of my due date.

Despite the myths, I was definitely more sick with a boy than with a girl. Maybe you'll get lucky and next pregnancy will be a breeze!
So he's like 10 inches long and 9 or so oz? I know they grow at different rates but I'm trying to figure out if there's any signs of how big they'll be at birth. I'm so nervous my boy is going to be over 10 lbs like the other males in my family! Did they give you any pics to take home? Are any facial features becoming more obvious? I feel like Jadyn resembled Scot so early on in her ultrasounds!

Even though sometimes we don't get what we were counting on, or expecting, it's such a relief to know for sure who's in there and start planning!

Hmm. Yes we got pics to take home, but I jumped on here to tell you guys, so I haven't scanned or photographed them yet. I don't see the measurement info printed on there like last time, but this was a different machine. I know she said he is about 12 oz and I think 10 inches long, which was in the 36th percentile which she said was "right where we like to see them." She didn't say anything about estimating birth weight from their growth at this point. I'll have to ask my doctor about that next week.

I might get one more ultrasound if my doctor feels it's necessary, because baby wouldn't cooperate and they weren't able to get a good look at the spine. The tech said from everything she could see, it looked totally fine, but that she wasn't able to get the "proof shot" she needed to show that the spine was completely enclosed and covered. If the Dr. has any reason to want that proof, I'll go back for another scan in 5 weeks or so.
