Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

BFP with Irregular Cycles

Natural BFP at 43

I was lurking and promising myself like others that if successful I would share what I did to get here.

I conceived my DS at 39 with no issue and was 40 when he was born. I knew though that trying for a second would be a very uncertain road at my age. Looking back we were really lucky to conceive after only about 16 months of concerted effort. During that time I had two failed IVF cycles and travelled long haul for work away from my husband for seven 3 week trips and missed quite a few opportunities making the outcome even luckier, statistically speaking.

I also trawled the internet, consulted a snake oil naturopath, charted, and took a buttload of supplements to help regulate my cycle. These included vitamins B (group) C, D, E (tocotrienols as well as tocopherols), magnesium myo-inositol, alpha lipoic acid, vitex, ubiquinol and red maca. I also ate two eggs for breakfast every day (gross!). I also cut out all alcohol and caffeine and soy and cold drinks and gee life was dull. As I added more and more to the daily mix it was interesting to see the effects. My BBT became much more stable and predictable and easier to map to my ovulation symptoms. My luteal phase lengthened slightly from 7or 8 days to 9 or 10. The follicular phase actually lengthened, annoyingly. The long weeks of jet lag from the 10 hour time differences made it harder too but I doubt they had much impact in the end. In the end I would put my money on the ubiquinol (500mg daily before tapering down to 200mg per day) and the red maca. Gross but I think that's what did it. A small disclaimer that I had a high AMH and low FSH at 42, and am in good physical shape.

BFP Symptoms were same as all the BFN cycles (headaches, cramps, bloating) except for tender nipples from 6DPO, same as other pregnancy. Squinter BFP on IC at 11DPO when temps stayed up. Lines gradually got stronger then two strong lines 13DPO on FRER.

Am now at 35 weeks and 4 days after a complication-free pregnancy. Tired and looking forward to welcoming LO to the outside not long before I turn 44.

Wishing all of you the best of luck.

BFP 45 Naturally :)

I just want to say I'm both excited and nervous and share with you all my regiment.

Firstly I'm 45!!! I miscarried in February. My husband and I were devestated so we went to a fertility specialist who told me that basically don't even bother with a 2% chance he was surprised that I got pregnant. He then offered me the option of donor eggs. Which is common for someone my age. They were going to try clomid first with an IUI but when my period rolled around and I was due for an ultra sound, I just didn't want to make the hour and a half drive to the clinic ... Soooooo like any person would do I hope on Google for advice. I bought a fertility kit first. Followed by preseed and then by COQ10.

When I got a positive on the opk ( CD 28!!! ) We used preseed and BD'd like monkeys on crack at the zoo.

Then came the TWW and here are my symptoms:

Nothing. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

On 11 dpo I dreamt I got a positive. Woke up took a test and the was my squinter. So I took test after test...I mean I had twenty of them! So I decided because they are ic's I would go by a free and it too was faint. So I took it again today and it's a little bit darker. And that's where I'm at :) barely 4 weeks after being told by several doctors it would probably never happen again.

God is good :)

Third Times a Charm

IUI #3...third times a charm! So the symptoms this cycle were definitely different than previous cycles. I'm taking Estrace (estrogen) and Progesterone, vaginally 2x times and for anyone that has taken these KNOWS that they mimic EVERY pregnancy symptom out there! But even though most of my symptoms were probably from the progesterone they were still very different! Also, I do have a PCOS diagnosis with minimal symptoms.

Ok so...

CD 3-7 I took 7.5mg of Femara/Letrozole.
CD 12 I took Ovidrel (trigger shot) and that morning's ultrasound showed 1 lead follicle at 21mm and a 14mm follicle (both on my left side).
CD 14 IUI @ 10:00am. Some minor cramping, but overall felt great. Took the day off, had an acupuncture session and relaxed at home.

1dpiui- dull cramps in morning, sharp cramping on left side; sharp, sharp nipple pain on left side which lasted about 40 seconds (weird thing ever) and it didn't help that I was out in public having to grab my boob!
2dpiui- minimal cramping, sore nipples
3dpiui- tired, some cramping, took a long nap, very nauseous, indigestion and heartburn. Left boob started to feel sore.
4dpiui- no cramping, gassy, sore boobs, sore nipples and some indigestion.
5dpiui- bad indigestion, gassy, sore boobs, minimal cramping on left side.
6dpiui- really cranky and irritable. exhausted and napped for 2 hours, some cramping, boobs were starting to become really, really sore.
7dpiui- tired, napped in the afternoon, really sore boobs and sore nipples. no cramps, but twitches and fluttering in uterus. extra thirsty! felt nauseous in the afternoon.
8dpiui- super thirsty and boobs were soo sore! acupuncture in the afternoon.
9dpiui- very thirsty and really sore boobs. I felt pulling and twitching in upper/inner vagina area/cervix-hard to explain, but you know what I mean :-). During the night I dreamt that I was pregnant; it was amazing!
10dpiui- minor cramping, super thirsty and peeing a lot. felt very bloated, and boobs were soo sore.
11dpiui- BFP! I tested in the morning and sure enough POSITIVE! Okay, I tested 2 times after that and still POSITIVE. Some cramping, some thirst, but peeing A LOT, and boobs feel like they grew 3 sizes. They are so hard and full and they HURT.

So overall, the 3 biggest differences I saw this cycle than previous cycles were increase in thirst, really sore boobs and the amount of naps I was taking. I was also testing my cervical position and I quickly learned it's really not accurate; I was stressing over it for no reason.

What I did differently...I've been taking A LOT of vitamins. A high quality prenatal, omega-3, vitamin e, vitamin d, CoQ10 and Sensitol (which is an herbal supplement). I did not do the pineapple core this cycle but I did drink a lot of Pom juice and red leaf raspberry tea. Lots and lots of water with electrolytes (SmartWater). Oh and of course acupuncture which has been my lifesaver. I've been going for the past 6 months, once a week and it just really helps me relax, meditate and breathe. If you can, find an acupuncturist that specializes in fertility, it makes a world of a difference. And I know it sounds like a lot, but out of all 3 cycles this cycle I was the most relax. I had a glass a wine, I didn't stress over what I was eating all the time, and I even had a cup of coffee! Oh that reminds me, I gave up caffeine and alcohol 5 months ago. As you can see, I cheat here and there, but it's okay! I hope my story has given you hope and has brought you comfort. Baby dust to you <3

42 and after 5 years a BFP with several faint positive

I swear the first five days those positives kept jumping at me I would insist on tweaking, messing with lighting. Surely it's an evaporation line.
Amazingly every single dollar store test would turn positive after the 10 mark time and I discounted that until I read a few posts about how many women got pregnant and same scenerio. Thought the test was negative, threw it out, dug it out and a positive.
But I still didn't believe it. It's been 5 years of this TWW stuff I'm in pregnancy denial maybe?
Well tonight I said enough with these dollar tests and spent 16.99 on a two pack of FRER'S. Didn't need more than four seconds for that second line and then I went total mental usual suspects mode analyzing every damn test I'd been staring at on my phone and put it together like a puzzle. YOU ARE PREGNANT WOMAN!! STOP PEEING ON THINGS.
So here I sit. With the following obvious signs I had for a week that I've blown off
6dpo sharp dip in my BBT chart. This was my very first month temping and using preseed and softcup.
Also my second month on vitex.
7dpo headache. Way sore girls. They did not want to be caged, free the boobies! Such a sharp pain I went down to the floor and had to take something. Felt like my uterus was falling out. So much pressure
8 dpo first positive (I convinced myself was negative because you know....the time frame thing
9dpo fell asleep at 3 pm woke at 6 went back to sleep at 8 and didn't get up until 5 am the next morning
10 dpo. What is this crap??? Why does my coffee taste like butter? Searched the fridge to find the smell that I kept getting a whiff of at every pass to the bathroom. Found it! Open bag of broccoli in the vegetable bin. How the heck did I not know this was a huge sign?
Skipped testing this day and tweaked old tests I have officially peed on all the things !!

11dpo damn you dollar tree, I'm on my way. Af cramps. Maybe I'm wasting my time. Bope, I'm going. 10 in hand. Lady at the counter started to make a joke and I looked at her with the stare of pure evil so she knew not to go there. I have been holding my wee for 1 hour lady this is not ok.
Hmmmm a bit snappy today. The perfume from the lady behind the counter at dunkin donuts attached itself to my cup and I had to throw it out because I couod smell that perfume everywhere.
Pink line after 30 minutes and dollar tree test dried ON 3 tests!. Must be me being hopeful.
12 dpo AF cramps for about an hour again. Left side. Dull headache and falling asleep on the phone.
Scratch cottage cheese and tomatoes off my grocery list. All I want is cereal.
Another line same time frame and density as the previous 4 days. Never ever seen color on an evap line and trust me I've peed on A LOT of things in these 5 years. I've even Googled sugar tests, all the DIY tests that BTW do not work.
These evaps must be a bad batch.
13 dpo. Today. Stitch feelings are precisely the perfect term for what I'm feeling on the left lower pelvic area. Almost in the hip.
Definitely a pink line after staring at a test for two hours on my phone. I'm convinced. Completely talked to myself driving to the store to get a frer and thought nothing of it until I got out of my jeep.
It seriously was like the end of the usual suspects. All the lines. The pink evaps. The tests. The dollar store trips. The hold. Oh I hate the hold. Is this for real?
I had already went to the restroom before I went to the store so that was less than 20 min. Who cares!!! I've got two and I need to pee on something and analyze the heck out of it.
And there it was. My Beautiful moment. Clear as day.
Omgosh I haven't had a baby in 19 years!!!! If I can't pee on things I must start planning.
I put a collection together for you all to see all the tests that were indeed positive
Still having the stich feeling. It's very obvious
Sore girls but not too bad.
Headaches and no pimples were a huge sign for me as well.
Wishing everyone loads of baby dust. It will happen. I have a 26 -28 day cycle 2 grown boys one with severe disability and all I can do is smile.

BFP - Irregular cycles

I've always had irregular cycles throughout my life since I've started my period. Previously I've had cycles that are about 50+ days long. However from end of 2015 to September 2016 I've had 33-37 days cycle which was amazing for me because they're somewhat consistent. From September to December 2016 I never got my period & after many pregnancy tests it was always negative. I saw my GP who suspected that I had PCOS as I have irregular cycles & now they've stopped. I was absolutely devasted as my partner & I were going to start trying for a baby come 2017. I was blood tested and had a ultrasound and was NOT diagnosed with PCOS. As a result of this they just told me I had 'longer' cycles that anyone else & therefore may take longer to conceive (this was in March 2017 when I was given the results of my ultrasound that I had in Feb). However I did get my period in January 2017.

So my cycles since they started were 40 & 49 days long. This is my third cycle that we conceive and my last period was 4th April 2017. I'm unsure as to when I ovulated as I said to myself that I would buy ovulation tests if we didn't fall pregnant this cycle. I also said to myself that I wouldn't obsess over every symptom I was in my last cycle. I did 'relax' a bit I guess.

I don't live with my other half and only see each other on weekends so we only have the chance to fall pregnant really slim every cycle!

Metformin miracle!

So excited to finally get to put my BFP story here!

First, a little background. My husband I decided to start trying for our rainbow in December of 2016. I had my IUD removed and was so excited to get started. Unfortunately, I've always had extremely irregular cycles, and in all of 2016 I only ended up having 4 very long cycles, with only 2 of them being ovulatory. After trying so many different methods and supplements to regulate my cycle on my own, I finally went to the doctor after a full year of trying. I was pretty quickly diagnosed with PCOS (which explained A LOT) and presribed Metformin. I was skeptical that the Metformin alone would get me ovulating, but my first cycle after I started taking it I not only ovulated, but relatively on time (CD 21)! Unfortunately, that cycle didn't end up with a BFP, but the very next cycle did! Here's a rundown of my symptoms leading to the BFP:

CD 28: O day. It was a little later than I would like, but at least I O'd!
1-3 DPO: Usual post O symptoms, cramping, a little tired, sore breasts (very normal TWW symptom for me)
4-6 DPO: Lots of strange cramps and twinges, some sharp stabbing pains
7 DPO: Still feeling my usual TWW symptoms, feeling very thirsty and very bloated
8 DPO: Took an HPT in the AM, knowing it was way too early but swear I see a very faint line. Eventually chalk it up to being an indent. Feeling very thirsty and very frequent urination - both of which are unusual for me. Breasts very sore and swollen, more than normal.
9-10 DPO: Feels like my breasts have grown a cup size. BFN's both days, which was a big let down after the faint line on 8 DPO. Counted myself out for the cycle and feeling very defeated. Still extremely thirsty and using the restroom a lot!
11 DPO: Took an HPT in the morning, and there was the faintest of lines. I was skeptical of it because it was an internet cheapie strip and I'd already been let down by the indent line a few days before. Starting to feel more hopeful though. Breasts are extremely sore and huge, very thristy, constantly feel like I need to pee. Very tired, although that's not unusual for me right before AF, not having much of an appetite and can't finish dinner, that was very strange.
12 DPO: Faint but definitely there BFP! I still didn't trust the cheapie strips so I bought a FRER on my lunch break and again, a faint but for sure there pink line! I couldn't believe it! Still tired and thirsty, very big and sore breasts, still don't have much of an appetite.
13 DPO- Now: Darker lines on the HPT's, starting to feel pregnant now.

Really the only symptoms during my TWW that were different than normal were being thirsty, frequent urination, and the loss of appetite. My biggest piece of advice would be to not wait to see the doctor if you're having very irregular or absent periods. I probably would have had that BFP a lot sooner had I gotten help earlier. There's a lot of information floating around about "miracle" supplements for PCOS and infertility and maybe they work for some, but really, if you're missing cycles you need to see a doctor who can help you find out why!

Got my BFP!!!

Finally after 2 years of ttc with DH I got my BFP !!!! I had gotten so tired of tracking ovulation, basal temps , etc ... it actually works when people tell you to stop stressing about it & eventually it happens!!!!

BFP 10dpo with PCOS

Skip to the bottom if you don't want the background story :)

My story: I've never had a normal period, partially due to having an eating disorder for many years. We went off birth control in August 2016 and I just knew getting pregnant wasn't going to be easy for us. I gained 80 pounds since 2012 and am now 165pds at 5'6" and can't lose weight no matter how hard I try.

I had one period between August and November. I had intense ovary pain (like someone poured icy hot over my ovaries) so I went in for an ultrasound. Ovaries had cysts all over them. OB wanted to wait a little longer but suspected PCOS.

I didn't have a period for another 90 days so I had another ultrasound in February 2017. Was officially diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin 500mg twice a day.

In March, I had spotting for two weeks. In Early April, I had spotting for five days. I guess they were sort of periods?

April 19th- Ovulation day: Temp 97.5. I got my first blazing positive OPK ever. I hadn't been using OPKs because I gave up on them but I was having sore nipples and lots of CM so I decided to take one (haven't had these symptoms since I was a teenager!). BD'd right away because I was so excited. We BD'd the night before too. Light menstrual-like cramping.
1dpo: Temp 98.16. sore, erect nipples continue. Light menstrual-like cramping.
2-3dpo: Temp 98.3. sore, erect nipples. Very little CM.
4dpo: Temp 98.67. Nipples slightly sore, light central cramping in uterus, left side pain (I usually have right side pain). Gassy and irritable. Menstrual cramps.
5 dpo: Temp 98.47. menstrual cramps, gassy
6 dpo: Temp 98.54. left side cramping/pain, no more sore nipples, noticed I had several BMs in one day (I'm usually constipated). White creamy CM mixed with watery CM. Restless sleep. Exhausted- nap on lunch break.
7 dpo- Temp 98.6. Exhausted. Waking up a lot throughout night. BFN.
8 dpo- Temp 98.48. Restless sleep. Hot flashes and burning sensation in uterus in the night. Weird dreams. DH dreamt we had a baby. Morning nausea. Right side twinges. Feeling off- shaky. Low back pain when I was in bed trying to fall asleep. BFN.
9 dpo- Temp 98.6 BFN. Pretty sure I'm out this cycle. Tired like I didn't sleep at all (I slept 9 hours). Left side twinges. I dreamt I was pregnant.
10dpo- Temp 98.61. Slightest of slight second line on a cheapie HPT. Convince myself it's an evap. Use SMU on First Response HPT and see a faint second line! Take four more tests, all with faint second line. Take digital clearblue in the afternoon- said Not Pregnant but it might just be too early and too diluted. Left sided twinges and menstrual cramps. "Background Nausea" where I feel slightly nauseous off and on but it isn't terrible.
11 dpo- BFP on First Response Digital!! Random morning nausea where I legitimately thought I was going to puke. Cramps.
12dpo- Blood test- HCG is 50 and Progesterone is 22! Consistently having cramps. Icy hot feeling on ovaries. Gas.
13dpo- Go in for ultrasound. Ovaries look good (no cysts!). Too early to see baby. Gas.
14dpo- Blood test- HCG 137 (good news, more than doubled in 48 hours like it's supposed to). Gas.
Hope this baby sticks! I'm cautiously optimistic.

BFP with uterine fibroid after 12 cycles!

I've read a million of these over the last year and just wanted to share with the other people reading these while they feel like they are waiting and waiting and waiting....

Just a little background info. I got pregnant with my DD with only 3 months of trying. During that pregnancy they found I had a uterine fibroid. It grew to about the size of a softball but somehow did not interfere with my pregnancy.
Second time around not so easy. Still have the fibroid and with watching my diet and taking DIM plus for the past 4 months we were able to shrink it a ton. God finally gave us a yes! This is our 12th and finally successful cycle of
Ttc!

DPO 1-7 - Nothing
DPO 8 - found I was emotional and pretty tired
DPO 9 - still tired and emotional also had loose stools tmi
DPO 10 - exhausted and starting to not sleep well. Cried over a commercial. Loose stools.
DPO 11 - completely exhausted and ate chipotle twice in one day and was still hungry! That was one of the first signs with my first pregnancy. Hungry all the time
DPO 12 - had a very vivid dream that I was pregnancy and had a blonde hair boy. I jumped out my hospital bed and yelled to everyone "See, I told you I was pregnant!
It'll be interesting to see if this little one turns out to be a boy :)
DPO - 13 Usually start craving chocolate by this time and my boobs are sore but I have none of this. Buy a hpt and decide to test next morning
DPO - 14 I take test and......it's a dud! It only shows a partial test line but wait! I think I see the top part of the pregnancy line! I Wait one hour and test again and bam! BFP! PTL!

Things I've been doing differently the past couple months is taking an estrogen metabolizer DIM plus - look it up! It rids your body of all the "fake estrogen" your body takes in from all the junk we eat. It also helped my periods a ton.
We dtd from cd 5 and on (which I was really still on af) because I had a huntch I O'd earlier than my signs showed. I also have been a ton more active this past month mostly due to it being nice out. Not sure which one worked but so so so glad it did! I can't wait to meet our little bean! Do your research and don't be afraid to talk to a Dr! Blessings to all you reading this!

Finally pregnant after 18 months

I wanted to share my story as I read these pages month after month and they gave me some hope.

I'm 34 and have a little boy who is nearly 3, I conceived the 2nd month of trying.

When he was 16 months old I decided to try for my second. I had a clear blue fertility monitor so I knew when I was ovulating. I was over the moon when I became pregnant in the first month. Unfortunately that ended in miscarriage at 6 weeks, I was obviously upset by this, but as I had got pregnant quickly twice I didn't think I would have a problem getting pregnant again.

I was wrong.

After my miscarriage it took about 6 weeks for my first period. When it arrived it was different. I had brown spotting for 5 days until my period started and then when it did start it was very light and lasted only for a couple of days.

We started to try again more or less straight away. My periods continued to have 5-10 days spotting and were still very light. A year after my miscarriage I went to the dr who referred me to a fertility expert.

They did all hormone tests which all came back fine. They also did a scan, this showed that I have very very mild polycystic overies, however the dr confirmed that this was so
Mild he did not think it would stop me trying to conceive.

He then prescribed me with 50mg of clomid to take days 2-5 of my cycle.

After 3 months on clomid with no success and no difference to my cycle I wanted to try something else. A friend recommended acupuncture and Chinese herbs. I continued to take clomid but thought I would give this a try at the same time. I arranged to see the acunpuncturist at the beginning of Feb this year.

I had acupuncture once a week and took Chinese herbs twice a day every day. She recommended doing this for 12 weeks. It is not cheap, the acunpuncture is £40 a session and the herbs are £40 for two weeks but I couldn't afford IVF so I thought this was worth a try.

After 8 weeks I am pregnant. I had bright red blood at 10 DPO after a BM and then spotting for 2 days. I obviously thought it was just the same as every other month but when my period hadn't started by 15 DPO I decided to take a test and to my surprise it was positive. The bleeding this time must have been implantation.

Just hoping that this pregnancy lasts.

Hopefully my story will give hope to someone in a similar situation. I genuinely believe that it was the acupuncture and herbs that worked for me.

I also started exercising more, I am a size 8, so not over weight but I didn't do much exercise so going to the gym 2-3 times a week and doing yoga once a week may have helped.
