Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

BFP with Irregular Cycles

BFP First Pregnancy!!!

This forum for BFP stories helped me get through our tough time and I knew I would share our good news when it happened. I am 31 and DH is 33.

I came off birth control in Dec 2015. We weren't trying to conceive at the time but we were hoping it would happen by chance. In Aug 2016, we moved places for easier commute to our jobs and to be closer to our families. I had always told DH that I wanted to live close to my parents when we started our family.
Unfortunately it wasn't the easy process we had hoped for. At the end of Aug 2016, we started to actively ttc. I started using ovulation tests to track ovulation and after 2 months of tracking, I noticed that my luteal phase was only 10-11 days. My luteal phase defect was likely due to excessive estrogen since I had used Evra patch for birth control. To help correct my luteal phase, I used DIM supplement for 4 months in addition to taking prenatal vitamins, B6 and coenzyme q10 and DH took multivitamin, zine and coenzyme q10.
By Dec 2016, my luteal phase was consistently 13-14 days but since we still were not successful, I started tracking my temperature and confirmed that I was ovulating every month and although my luteal phase was consistent, my cycles were varying from 29-36 days. We also started to use Pre-seed each time we BD at ovulation.
By April 2017, we decided we wanted to see a specialist as we had been off birth control for over a year and still no luck. We got an appointment for early June 2017 and the doctor told me I likely had mild PCOS since my cycles were not regular and started me on cycle monitoring and did a sperm check for DH. He also told us not to use Pre-seed and to spend more time on foreplay instead.
Through cycle monitoring, we found out that all was well (tubes, egg development, uterus) and my DH's sperm was normal in number and motility. We were relieved but the cycle that was being monitored was was very long. Through the monitoring, we were told to BD CD 22-25 (I also found that I had strong positive ovulation tests and +++ewcm). At CD 28, I had bloodwork done and was told my progesterone was 47.3 (anything over 30 is good). At CD 35, I had bloodwork to test me for pregnancy and they called me to come in because my hcg level was 17 (anything over 5 is positive)!

DPO 1-DPO 5: no symptoms except for temperature rise
DPO 6: pink spotting, sharp shooting breast pain
DPO 7: very sore nipples and sharp shooting breast pain
DPO 8-10: very sore nipples
DPO 11: sore nipples; hcg level 17 and I tested with easy@home hcg test for faint positive and FRER clear +ve
DPO 12-13: slightly darker +ve on hcg test and clearblue digital +ve test with 1-2 weeks indicator (since conception)
DPO 14/day of missed period: brown spotting and darker +ve on hcg test

We are so excited for the months ahead! Babydust to all! Have Faith!

BFP after 4yrs TTC, PCOS & 3 cycles Clomid!

I'm in total shock! It's still early days but I'm celebrating each day as it is. I've had one chemical pregnancy before in 2010, and I wouldn't have known if I didn't test early. I've tested early again because I had a feeling. I'm crossing my fingers for a sticky little one!

I haven't ovulated for over four years. We've been trying to conceive for four years with no luck whatsoever.
I started seeing a fertility specialist at the start of the year. I've had two cycles of 50mg Clomid, and no ovulation.
I'm on my third cycle of Clomid, first cycle of 100mg. I ovulated! I had a blood test two days ago. It showed a progesterone level of 26, which my doctor says is fine.
I was excited about ovulating, so despite being only 8dpo yesterday.. I tested with cheapies and got a super faint line. I wasn't sure it was real cause it had no colour and was barely there.
This morning I took a First Response test and got a faint pink line!?!?!
Here is my info that I gathered using the Glow app:

CD16 - I got my first ever Peak symbol on the Clear Blue Dual Hormone Fertlity monitor.
CD17 - OVULATION DAY! Mild headache, indigestion, nausea and pelvic pain. Moderate cramps and backache. Severe constipation.
CD18/1dpo - Mild backache, headache, sore boobs and pelvic pain. Moderate cramps.
CD19/2dpo - Mild backache. Moderate sore boobs and cramps.
CD20/3dpo - Mild insomnia. Moderate sore boobs, bloating, fatigue, and pelvic pain. Severe hot flashes, backache, appetite and cramps.
CD21/4dpo - Mild insomnia. Moderate sore boobs, constipation, bloating and pelvic pain. Severe hot flashes, headache, backache and cramps. I went to hospital on this day because I was in so much backache and cramping pain that I thought I had developed OHSS! I hadn't. An ultrasound showed a corpus luteum! (The leftovers from the ovulated egg, which supplies progesterone to the embryo until the placenta takes over. So, good sign!)
CD22/5dpo - Mild nausea and insomnia. Moderate feeling sick (I had lots of mouth ulcers due to lowered immune system which happens at ovulation and/or early pregnancy), indigestion, fatigue and sore boobs. Severe cramps, constipation, backache, bloating, headache, hot flashes and pelvic pain.
CD23/6dpo - Mild cramps and hot flashes. Moderate headache, bloating and backache. Severe sore boobs and constipation.
CD24/7dpo - Mild pelvic pain, hot flashes, backache, appetite and constipation. Moderate headache. Severe cramps.
CD25/8dpo - Mild pelvic pain, insomnia, headache and constipation. Moderate cramps, appetite and hot flashes. Severe sore boobs.
CD26/9dpo - Mild cramps, bloating, fatigue, headache and pelvic pain. Moderate backache. Severe sore boobs.

I'm hoping for a very sticky baby and a healthy and happy nine months of pregnancy. Please God, give us this blessing.

Notes:
I used Preseed every time we babydanced.
I took Metformin 500mg three times a day, Clomid 100mg from cycle days 2-6, CoQ10, Pre-conception Vitamins, Probiotic, double folic acid dose (800mg), vitamin C and Zinc, and 400mg Myoinositol twice a day.
I kept my feet warm all the time. (Apparently keeps uterus warm)
I did femoral artery massage, which is what I think helped a lot! Youtube it!
I drank Pomegranate juice around ovulation and for a few days after.
I tried to eat and drink mostly warm food stuffs. Never anything freezing cold. (Apparently keeps uterus warm)
I inserted my menstrual cup/Moon Cup after sex with hubby, to keep sperm in. Similar to soft cups, but cheaper and reusable.
I lay with my legs up the wall and a pillow under my butt.

BFP After Early Stillbirth

Hi everyone! First of all, this was our fifth cycle trying. I had taken two tests - on CD 27, 31, and 34 - all BFNs. I was convinced I wasn't pregnant, I thought it was stress from moving. I barely charted any symptoms, unlike all the other previous cycles. Even so, I'll try to remember something for you guys. My stomache would feel weird sometimes from eating. Sometimes it felt like nausea, sometimes like the food just felt weird in my stomache. I was a tiny bit bloated, but mainly, I smelled things that no one else smelled. I would also randomely take naps throughout the day and wake up 2 hours later, to my surprise. These were my cues that made me start testing so early, but nothing was positive. Until.... CD 39. I was giving myself no chance, my husband wasn't either, we were just like, "Let's get this out of the way." To our utter surprise, the test turned positive. (I must have ovulated late.) We are absolutely overjoyed. I want to also share with you an encouragement, even though there are sad parts to it. I became pregnant in August 2016 with everything going well until our ultrasound at 10 weeks. Our baby had an enlarged NT (nuchal translucency). That NT kept growing and growing. I don't want to scare anyone on here, but at 12 weeks, my doctors said there was no chance this baby was making it and that she would die soon. She was diagnosed with Turner's syndrome at 15 weeks. In the middle of the pain, the shock, and the total disbelief that God could let this happened, I eventually came to find absolute peace in Him, and to realize that He did not intend my daughter to have this genetic disorder, someone else did. My daughter Ella died at 21 weeks sometime at the end of December and was born on January 8th. Even though I still mourn her, I know she's with her Father in Heaven, and that's such a victory. My husband and I have grown so much in our relationship with God as well. So, fast-forward to us trying for almost 7 pretty long months to this absolute miracle. I think it's still not sinking in, but I'm hopeful and pray that I place my trust in Him every day. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Hope after irregular periods and cerazette

I came off cerazette and it took me 3 months for my periods to return. I thought it would be really hard to conceive as before I was on the pill I had irregular periods. I charted and took my temperature/ my BBT and used Opk tests to know when I was ovulating. (really recommend reading Taking charge of your fertility) and took angus cast us to regulate my cycles.
I was thrilled to fall pregnant the second cycle after coming off the pill.
1dpo
2dpo- had massive moodswing
5dpo - 9dpo -funny little cramps a bit like menstrual cramps but slightly different. Also totally wiped out and breathless.
10dpo - faint bfp on frer
11dpo -clearer bfp on frer
12dpo - cramping and spotting, digital test says not pregnant. Was devastated but now realise this must have been implantation bleeding and the digital test wasn't sensitive enough to pick up the hormones.
13 -19 dpo cramping continued, had sharp pains in my boobs. But bfps got darker.
19dpo - got bfp using digital which said pregnant 2-3weeks

I had read many horror stories for coming off cerazette so hope this gives people hope. I also recommend the opks as I ovulated later than most women on day 21 of cycle and was able to catch the egg!

Age 39 BFP after giving up

Hi ladies! I've lurked here for months and promised myself I'd post if I ever had a bfp. I want to encourage the over 35 chicks who are ttc.
I'm 39, hubby is 34. I have 4 from previous marriage current ages are 20,18,14, and 12.
Hubs and I wanted a baby, I removed Mirena in Jan 2016. I temped, charted, peed on ovulation sticks, took vitamins and BD'd whether we felt like it or not.
Month after month I got my hopes up, then nothing. One evap line gave us 24 hours of false hope. I had smoked for years, had ovarian cysts, and my mother was menopausal early. I accepted that this meant that I'm probably not fertile and I gave up on ttc when my periods became irregular. Every time my period was late, I was elated, only to be crushed with a neg test.
My employer has great infertility benefits, but I decided that approaching age 40, that the chances weren't great and i couldn't go through the emotional turmoil of infertility treatments. Every month really made me feel like a failure.
We stopped all the temp taking, charting, opk, and timing BD. We bought a house and broke it in ONCE during my cycle. It was CD 14, for those of you that track that. My cycle was between 22 and 40 days long.

5 days dpo: acne flare up, not unusual for me, but worse than normal.

12-14 days dpo: I was emotional and weepy during a particularly difficult week at work, chalked it up to pms and anxiety. I had a sore throat and thought it was a summer virus.
15 dpo: missed period, didn't care, work is too rough this week to think about anything else.
16 dpo: breasts not fitting in bra, no tenderness
17&18 dpo: fall asleep at 8 pm, grateful for the sleep.
19 20 21 dpo: pants tough to button, breats are quite full. I suspect another ovarian cyst is messing with me, or that the dreaded perimenopause is in full swing.
21 dpo: stop home beiefly and take a quick pg test before making ob appt for the ovarian cyst, because i know they will ask about pg possibility.
I've taken so many negative ones that I barely even glanced at it.
It was positive. Bright bold blue unmistakably positive.
Hang in there, girls.

Bfp at 10dpo

1-4dpo nothing out of the ordinary. Boobs hurt immediately but this is normal.
5dpo-chills and hot flashes
6dpo-very very chilly even though it's 90+ outside. Holy constipation!! I am very regular and by this day my bowels seemed to have stopped up. CM is watery and creamy mixture but not very much
7dpo-still constipated and very painful gas like cramps. Feel dry cm. Sciatic pain on my whole left side.
8dpo-boobs hurt a lot but come in waves. Still constipated. Finally poop and it's so painful! Feel dry cm. Light light cramps but still feel like gas cramps.
9dpo-boob pain subsides by the evening. Feel SO hot and SO cold and every hour it changes. ANXIOUS! I have an anxiety disorder. Sciatic pain comes back but my whole left side is tingly. Burping and heartburn starts.
Very light light cramps which had be wonder... it felt like they radiated like a UTI al the way up to my stomach, but ever so slight like I was imagining things
10dpo-boob pain has almost gone away.. what!? Burping and heartburn is awful, and I haven't eaten anything spicy. Heartburn induced nausea(or so I thought at the time). Bloated as heck!!! Burping non stop.
Couldn't test with FMU, too nervous.
SMU-took a FR Digital, a +YES with a clock showed up, I was shattered after reading that it meant a defective test.
3pm urine with 2 hour hold- BFP!!!! On a FRER I've never ever seen a 2nd line(only Evans and imaginary) so this was a clear clear pink second line.
10dpo night- had weird cramps that radiated from my groin to my back. Nothing like af cramps. Still concerning but trying not to worry!

Do to OH's surgery schedule(he's a resident) we only Bd'd ONCE!!! can you believe how lucky we got after 4+ years of trying and this time totally unassisted?

Natural BFP at 43

I was lurking and promising myself like others that if successful I would share what I did to get here.

I conceived my DS at 39 with no issue and was 40 when he was born. I knew though that trying for a second would be a very uncertain road at my age. Looking back we were really lucky to conceive after only about 16 months of concerted effort. During that time I had two failed IVF cycles and travelled long haul for work away from my husband for seven 3 week trips and missed quite a few opportunities making the outcome even luckier, statistically speaking.

I also trawled the internet, consulted a snake oil naturopath, charted, and took a buttload of supplements to help regulate my cycle. These included vitamins B (group) C, D, E (tocotrienols as well as tocopherols), magnesium myo-inositol, alpha lipoic acid, vitex, ubiquinol and red maca. I also ate two eggs for breakfast every day (gross!). I also cut out all alcohol and caffeine and soy and cold drinks and gee life was dull. As I added more and more to the daily mix it was interesting to see the effects. My BBT became much more stable and predictable and easier to map to my ovulation symptoms. My luteal phase lengthened slightly from 7or 8 days to 9 or 10. The follicular phase actually lengthened, annoyingly. The long weeks of jet lag from the 10 hour time differences made it harder too but I doubt they had much impact in the end. In the end I would put my money on the ubiquinol (500mg daily before tapering down to 200mg per day) and the red maca. Gross but I think that's what did it. A small disclaimer that I had a high AMH and low FSH at 42, and am in good physical shape.

BFP Symptoms were same as all the BFN cycles (headaches, cramps, bloating) except for tender nipples from 6DPO, same as other pregnancy. Squinter BFP on IC at 11DPO when temps stayed up. Lines gradually got stronger then two strong lines 13DPO on FRER.

Am now at 35 weeks and 4 days after a complication-free pregnancy. Tired and looking forward to welcoming LO to the outside not long before I turn 44.

Wishing all of you the best of luck.

BFP 45 Naturally :)

I just want to say I'm both excited and nervous and share with you all my regiment.

Firstly I'm 45!!! I miscarried in February. My husband and I were devestated so we went to a fertility specialist who told me that basically don't even bother with a 2% chance he was surprised that I got pregnant. He then offered me the option of donor eggs. Which is common for someone my age. They were going to try clomid first with an IUI but when my period rolled around and I was due for an ultra sound, I just didn't want to make the hour and a half drive to the clinic ... Soooooo like any person would do I hope on Google for advice. I bought a fertility kit first. Followed by preseed and then by COQ10.

When I got a positive on the opk ( CD 28!!! ) We used preseed and BD'd like monkeys on crack at the zoo.

Then came the TWW and here are my symptoms:

Nothing. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

On 11 dpo I dreamt I got a positive. Woke up took a test and the was my squinter. So I took test after test...I mean I had twenty of them! So I decided because they are ic's I would go by a free and it too was faint. So I took it again today and it's a little bit darker. And that's where I'm at :) barely 4 weeks after being told by several doctors it would probably never happen again.

God is good :)

Third Times a Charm

IUI #3...third times a charm! So the symptoms this cycle were definitely different than previous cycles. I'm taking Estrace (estrogen) and Progesterone, vaginally 2x times and for anyone that has taken these KNOWS that they mimic EVERY pregnancy symptom out there! But even though most of my symptoms were probably from the progesterone they were still very different! Also, I do have a PCOS diagnosis with minimal symptoms.

Ok so...

CD 3-7 I took 7.5mg of Femara/Letrozole.
CD 12 I took Ovidrel (trigger shot) and that morning's ultrasound showed 1 lead follicle at 21mm and a 14mm follicle (both on my left side).
CD 14 IUI @ 10:00am. Some minor cramping, but overall felt great. Took the day off, had an acupuncture session and relaxed at home.

1dpiui- dull cramps in morning, sharp cramping on left side; sharp, sharp nipple pain on left side which lasted about 40 seconds (weird thing ever) and it didn't help that I was out in public having to grab my boob!
2dpiui- minimal cramping, sore nipples
3dpiui- tired, some cramping, took a long nap, very nauseous, indigestion and heartburn. Left boob started to feel sore.
4dpiui- no cramping, gassy, sore boobs, sore nipples and some indigestion.
5dpiui- bad indigestion, gassy, sore boobs, minimal cramping on left side.
6dpiui- really cranky and irritable. exhausted and napped for 2 hours, some cramping, boobs were starting to become really, really sore.
7dpiui- tired, napped in the afternoon, really sore boobs and sore nipples. no cramps, but twitches and fluttering in uterus. extra thirsty! felt nauseous in the afternoon.
8dpiui- super thirsty and boobs were soo sore! acupuncture in the afternoon.
9dpiui- very thirsty and really sore boobs. I felt pulling and twitching in upper/inner vagina area/cervix-hard to explain, but you know what I mean :-). During the night I dreamt that I was pregnant; it was amazing!
10dpiui- minor cramping, super thirsty and peeing a lot. felt very bloated, and boobs were soo sore.
11dpiui- BFP! I tested in the morning and sure enough POSITIVE! Okay, I tested 2 times after that and still POSITIVE. Some cramping, some thirst, but peeing A LOT, and boobs feel like they grew 3 sizes. They are so hard and full and they HURT.

So overall, the 3 biggest differences I saw this cycle than previous cycles were increase in thirst, really sore boobs and the amount of naps I was taking. I was also testing my cervical position and I quickly learned it's really not accurate; I was stressing over it for no reason.

What I did differently...I've been taking A LOT of vitamins. A high quality prenatal, omega-3, vitamin e, vitamin d, CoQ10 and Sensitol (which is an herbal supplement). I did not do the pineapple core this cycle but I did drink a lot of Pom juice and red leaf raspberry tea. Lots and lots of water with electrolytes (SmartWater). Oh and of course acupuncture which has been my lifesaver. I've been going for the past 6 months, once a week and it just really helps me relax, meditate and breathe. If you can, find an acupuncturist that specializes in fertility, it makes a world of a difference. And I know it sounds like a lot, but out of all 3 cycles this cycle I was the most relax. I had a glass a wine, I didn't stress over what I was eating all the time, and I even had a cup of coffee! Oh that reminds me, I gave up caffeine and alcohol 5 months ago. As you can see, I cheat here and there, but it's okay! I hope my story has given you hope and has brought you comfort. Baby dust to you <3
