BFP Stories

Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

BFP with No Symptoms

Another BFP with MFI!

I am now 6w3d after getting my third BFP with MFI. We were told over 3 years ago that natural conception was unlikely and that we would likely have to undergo IVF with ICSI. We started preparing ourselves emotionally and financially....and then we got pregnant. Our son is now almost 2.

I figured that this was hitting the lottery and that he would be our one and only. When he turned 1, we started thinking again about whether we wanted to head down that road again. It had been so painful and frustrating the first time around.

We stopped preventing (and of course I secretly started timing) and we fell pregnant again. Sadly, it ended as a chemical pregnancy.

Three cycles later, we fell pregnant again! So far so good. We are very cautiously optimistic this time around.

We really have no idea what happened here. We have not had his sperm count rechecked. We made a few lifestyle changes starting at a few months before my first BFP. We switched to an all organic diet and he started eating a few Brazil nuts each day. They are high in selenium. However, we learned that more than 2-3 a day can actually be bad or even toxic.

As far as symptoms go, I didn't have many. My boobs were perhaps a little more sore than they usually are with PMS. I had insomnia pretty much immediately. But, I can never tell whether that is an actual symptom or if it's just because I am so excited about a BFP. At 12 dpo, I had a headache that wouldn't go away. At 14 dpo, I had a nosebleed.

I hope our story gives some of you with MFI some hope. I know that is an incredibly frustrating situation because there is just so little you can do to control or fix it.
Good luck, ladies! And send me a little prayer for a sticky baby!!

Still in shock!! no real symptoms

So today makes 11dpo. I was not trying to conceive but somehow I just knew I was pregnant so I tested and here I am!!! The weird thing is I had no real symptoms but a few things did stand out to me and I will go through them.
O day May 1st. Bd April 30 and May 1st
1dpo immediately my breast begin to feel slight tenderness and began to get fuller. This is very unusual for me as they never get like this until 6 or 7 dpo. Other than that nothing.
2dpo nothing really except the breast swelling so much that I felt like they were suffocating me! I'm not very big so I'm not used to feeling like breasts are suffocating me.
3-7dpo nothing at all. Breasts stopped getting fuller but remain as full as they were 2dpo. 4dpo yellow tinged cm which never happens and watery cm also.
8dpo- breasts start to deflateto normal size only slightly tender. I did look at a cute bird and it made me sad? That's when I started thinking even more that something was up. I got super super gassy from this day on and still going!!! Slight cramping for like 3 minutes. Nothing out of the ordinary
9dpo lots and lots of watery discharge. I am not sure if this has happened to me before. I feel calm and collected. I decided to test and bam! BFN on ic.I started to smell weird stuff like vomit and watermelon? Test says negative so not sure on that one.
10dpo wake up and test on ic and lo snd behold a faint pink line!!??? I know what stark white is and this is not!!! I had to go to work so I left at 620 am with that on my mind. Got off work at 8pm and went straight to the grocery and picked up generic early result ept and another faint but definitely there BFP!?.
11DPO wake up and test on ic and generic and both darker positive. I rush out to buy FREE and clear blue digital with weeks estimator and instantly positive on FREE. And also pregnant 1-2 weeks on clear blue!!! This is so unexpected! !! I should be due on January 22 2017. I still have to tell DP!!!

BFP using soft cups, SMEP, and Mucinex after 3 months TTC!

We've only been trying for 3 months, but I have to say I was feeing pretty discouraged that we weren't instantly pregnant. This will be baby #3 for us (I'm 30 years old), and my first two babies we got pregnant the first go round, so I just assumed it would be that easy this time! After obsessing over every symptom the last two cycles, and being so disappointed with a BFNs, I tried to take it easy this time and not read to much into every little thing. But here are my symptoms, by DPO:

CD 16: O Day! Actually had gotten a positive ovulation strip on CD 14 and 15, and by CD 16 it was negative, but this is the day that FF chose as my O day. Also, CD 15 and CD 16 I had what felt like bad menstrual cramps (o pain?) but I was also gassy and constipated so cramping could have been related to that.

DPO 1: Nothing, slow rise in temperature.
DPO 2: Nothing, temp still going up.
DPO 3:Nothing, record high temp at 98.84
DPO 4: Feeling warm and flushed, but it was warm out so I wrote it off as nothing. A bit bloated. Temp slightly lower.
DPO 5: Temp dropping still. Bloated and gassy. Very emotional, cried watching TV (again, not that unusual for me).
DPO 6: Temp dropping further (still well above cover line though). Feeling grumpy and irritable that my temp as gone down three days in a row, I feel like I for sure cannot be pregnant. Very snappy and irritable mood, I figure that it is PMS. Boobs achy on and off, which is normal PMS symptom for me.
DPO 7: Temp is back up at 98.75. Feel in a much better mood. Weird stabbing pain in left nipple, which is not normal for me. Pain continues on and off throughout the day.
DPO 8: Gassy, temp is still high. I don't feel pregnant so I have coffee and feel weird and jittery (possibly because I've been abstaining from caffeine for so long).
DPO 9: Boobs achy (only a little). Gassy and a little bloated, face is breaking out a bit more than usual before AF. A few twinges and pains in my uterus. Menstrual like back cramps. Feeling very tired, take a nap in the afternoon, and still fall asleep at 9:30 at night.
DPO 10: Temp is still high (usually by now it starts to go down). Decide to take a cheap pregnancy test (Easy at Home Brand), and I am amazed that there is a very definite faint line!! Continued cramps and weird tingling in armpits and occasional stabbing pains in boobs. Feeling warm and flushed. Twinges in uterus. Can't keep eyes open after 9:00 PM.
DPO 11: Temp still up, take a Clear Blue Easy test and definite line appears! Also take another cheap test, and line is darker than yesterday's! Feeling very warm, gassy, and having twinges/pains in uterus. Very tired, napping a lot.

So that's it! Most of my pregnancy symptoms were so similar or identical to PMS, so I really wasn't holding out much hope (although at the beginning of this cycle I did have a good feeling about this being our cycle to conceive, but then after not really feeling pregnant I lost hope). So don't stress if you don't have that many symptoms, it's different every time. With my daughter I knew I was pregnant before I even tested, but not this time!

Things we did this cycle that might have helped our BFP that we didn't do last time:
DH: Took Maca Root, Zinc, and multi vitamin.

Me: Took Evening Primrose Oil to O day, then switched to Fish Oil. Also drank Red Raspberry leaf tea the whole cycle until I got a positive Pregnancy test. Also took prenantal, vit. d, vit. k, magnesium.

Followed Sperm Meets Egg Plan, using Soft Cups, Preseed, and took Mucinex during fertile period.

I have a retroverted uterus, so we DTD with me laying on my stomach and my hips propped up on a pillow. I also laid on my stomach (not my back) afterwards for at least 1 hour. I put the Soft Cups in after about an hour with a bit of preseed in it, and kept them in 8-12 hours.

BFP w/hardly any symptoms

Been TTC for 5 months now. Haven't temped or used any OPKs because I can always tell by EWCM when I'm ovulating. Fast forward to this month, I finally decided to talk with my MD (also an OB) about my acne. She put me on a medication (spironolactone) for acne, knowing that I was TTC. I started taking it right around the time I was supposed to be ovulating.

So this month I never had EWCM that I noticed, so I figured that maybe I just didn't ovulate. Then it finally dawned on me that spironolactone is a diuretic and that it will affect CM.

Fast forward to last weekend, I somehow hurt my back really bad but don't know how. By Tuesday afternoon I was in so much pain I wondered if I had a kidney stone or something and almost went to the ER. Instead, I took a preg test (BFN) and then took 800 mg ibuprofen, knowing that it may have been too soon for a cheapie test to show BFP. The ibu helped tremendously (I really didn't want to take it knowing I could be PG but I just had to..)

I was expecting AF yesterday but lately I've been a bit irregular by 1-3 days. I honestly didn't have much hope until this morning when I went for my "after coffee bathroom break" and noticed that things were moving a bit slow... If you know what I mean.. Which is NEVER a problem for me. (I was also really tired all week but figured it was just from not sleeping since my back was hurting so bad.) I decided, what the heck?, and grabbed a pack of FRERs when I was in town. Didn't use fmu and still got a very faint BFP!!!!!

Still in disbelief and will test again in the AM (I got a 3-pack) and will call my OB on Monday!!

First ever BFP at 41 years old after 12 months TTC, all natural!

Hi there, I've been a long time lurker of this board since we started ttc over 12 months ago. Only just married the love of my life coming up 2 years.

Last month we decided to go in for some basic tests. I spent almost $300 on an internal ultrasound which lasted for an hour and was very thorough. In the end they couldn't see anything abnormal and both technicians remarked separately about my beautiful ovaries lol! (No sign of PCOS which I was diagnosed with 7 years ago). Hubby was due to go in for a sperm test and I'm awaiting results of hormone blood test :)

This month as well was very stressful - I worked late till 10pm 2-3 nights a week plus Sundays, we really thought we had no chance!

I haven't had any symptoms at all except slight fatigue which I thought was from working too hard :)

Right after ovulation I get very sore breasts until menstruation. I got them this month and was waiting for my period to start. The only thing different was last week I found myself getting really really hot in bed where as hubby was freezing. Anyway this morning my period was 4 days late and just for fun and boredom I thought I'd use the last pregnancy test. Was holding off as it was an expensive (not internet cheapie) one and highly sensitive 10iU, but then thought I might as well get rid of it and get a fresh batch of tests! Lol

We went out straight away to get a digital test and confirmed positive but I was pretty confident from the first test since I have never ever got even a squinter of a second line before. This one came back with two strong dark lines within minutes!

I believe all life is divinely given and every pregnancy and birth is a special miracle, so in terms of advice I don't really have much to say other than to eat healthy, mild excercise, sleep and sunshine, all common sense really.

Hubby and I have been having green breakfast smoothies every day for a year now. We include greens and some fruit like bananas and also zinc and milk thistle tablets. I highly recommend eating lots of fresh greens as it it so good for you and the body absorbs it better than tablets.

Anyway I know it's early days and it might not stick for long but nevertheless we are really excited and happy to see our first bfp after so long!

BFP despite: one ovary, varicocele, low sperm motility, and BBT drop

Hey everyone-

So I have been pouring over these posts since TTC. I wanted to post some of the obstacles we faced in the title to give people some hope, as I gained so much insight from all of you.

1. To start I have one ovary as a result of a very large ovarian cyst when I was 18. Doctors have always assured me this would not affect my fertility, but I was still worried.

2. My significant other was diagnosed with low sperm motility 25%. We had just ordered supplements. He also has a varicocele, so we were looking into surgery when we got our positive.

3. Here are some details about my successful cycle:

- My cycle length has been variable since stopping birth control: 21-30 days so I have been using OPKs and BBT

- I had a +OPK on CD 17 and 18 (Clear Blue Digital and Easy@Home strips)

- We BD on CD 15, 17, 18, 19 (using pre-seed lubricant)

- Cramping with very slight brown discharge 11 DPO (CD 29) - otherwise no symptoms

- Rise in BBT 3-10 DPO (CD 21-28), but dropped back to the cover-line 11-12 DPO (CD 29-30), shot up to the highest point 13 DPO (CD 31)

- BFP 13 DPO (CD 31) on Clear Blue Digital (barely visible on Easy@Home strips)

Ok, I hope this gives some people some information.

Thanks again for all of your posts.

Trying for 4 months after 15 years on the pill

These stories helped me so thought I would share. I came off the pill four months ago and had regular 28 day cycles straight away. The first few months we weren't 'trying' very hard but this cycle we had sex every other day from CD8 to CD16. I had no EWCM at all this month, just watery from CD11 to 15. I didn't use OPKs so not sure when I ovulated but if I assume CD14 then I had the following:

1dpo - nothing
2dpo - nothing
3dpo - nothing
4po - sharp pains low down on right hand side, stabbing pains, on and off for a couple of hours
5dpo - odd sharp pains in side and boobs, infrequent
6dpo - 9dpo - diarrhea in am but had started new vitamins so put it down to that
10dpo - tired but didn't sleep well, BFN on one step in eve
11dpo - nothing, BFN on one step in eve
12dpo - nothing much, tired and bit of a headache but long day at work, was sure I was out this month
13dpo - sore boobs all day, not to the touch but just felt heavy and I noticed them being there, noticed they were aching in a meeting but had ran out of tests!
14dpo - no AF, I'm never late, started to suspect!
15dpo - BFN on one step with FMU but had a few beers the night before as was sure I was out (typical!). Very very very faint line on Tesco hpt in afternoon after holding urine for few hours
16dpo - still no AF. Very weird. Another faint line on Tesco test with FMU. BFP with clear blue digital, pregnant and 1-2 weeks at 11:30am after holding urine for approx 2 hours.

Delighted and anxious in equal measures! Baby dust to all...

Natural Conception at 40 and again at 42 after years of fertility issues

Hi ladies, this page has given me so much hope and helped keep me sane over the last 5 years. Over a period of 4 years I had various fertility treatments, including 2 IVF. Nothing worked. While we were busy planning our third and last IVF I found out I was pregnant, NATURALLY. I thought the universe was taking the piss out of me, I was actually quite shocked and even a bit upset. I didn’t believe it would stick and I’d only be losing precious time. I was 40 then. Well, I sailed through the easiest, happiest pregnancy and had a magical birthing experience. My miracle boy is now 16 months old. I was always listening, even begging for symptoms. I had none whatsoever. I’d say a bit of morning sickness and sore nipples kicked in around 8 weeks but before that, nada. I found the waiting game very difficult indeed.

What did I do different? Really not much. About 3 months earlier I started taking Omega 3/6 every morning and I also reduced my sugar intake, nothing drastic, just less chocolate, cakes, etc.

I breastfed my son until he was one year old. I got AF back in January this year and we started trying immediately for number 2. I will be 43 in June. I still can’t believe that on my 4 forth cycle, I’m pregnant again (just 5 weeks). After years of treatments, disappointment, heart ache and never giving up hope, we conceived naturally, TWICE. I have learnt that there are things in life that we simply cannot control. Never give up hope, never ever give up trying.

I pray with my heart and soul that this little bean sticks. My best wishes, baby dust and good luck to all you ladies.

2 really positive stories! Conception while breastfeeding.

Hello everyone! I was hoping to share some hope and joy, as I have been reading these stories and they have helped me stay positive along the way. Here are my pregnancy experiences!

Summer-fall of 2013 my husband and I were using a ladycomp fertility computer as a means for natural family planning. We were not ready to conceive and we were in fact trying to use it as birth control. We were following the ladycomp’s prompts of red, yellow or green days of when to or not to make love (I wasn’t tracking any other ovulation signs). After using it for 6 months with fairly normal cycles. I randomly ovulated late and we created our son! My first sign was a missed period. Took a cheap pregnancy test, and it was negative. After 15 dpo of high temps and no period, the ladycomp started flashing telling me I was pregnant. Got excited and tested with another cheap test. Big ol’ negative! Finally at 18dpo the ladycomp was still flashing at me every morning. I did a little googling about false negatives and went into town to buy a first response test. After 2 minutes of squeezing and praying, I opened my eyes and was blown away by seeing my first faint positive!! I actually rubbed my eyes and gazed down at it a second time. Had to wait for my husband to get out of camp to tell him and he was over the moon!
Then half a week later, I had a major bleed and went for an emergency ultra sound and blood work. Based on my period the doctors thought I was 8 weeks along. Based on the findings of the tests, they assumed our son was 4 weeks along. So naturally they sent the crying, bleeding, pregnant woman home alone and told her she must have miscarried at 4 weeks. I was told to go home and rest and let nature take it’s course. This heavy, red, and textured bleed only lasted half a day. A couple days later I kept seeing darker and darker lines on the home HGC tests. I went in for more blood work, and oh hey sorry! The doctors were wrong, we don’t know why you were bleeding but you and your baby are growing, healthy and fine! Yeeash! What a scare. Needless to say, I then started with community midwifery care instead. At 12 weeks, we had another huge bleed, which turned out to be placental abruption. Terrifying. I literally got up from my chair in the emergency room and dumped bright red blood on the floor. They did an internal exam and an ultrasound and didn’t feel the baby was at risk. The abruption was small and healed itself. We then went on to have a full term pregnancy with a natural, home birth. Our son is now 21 months, still nursing and honestly one of the coolest people I know.

Still unsure but I think I'm pregnant!

I've been obsessing over all kinds of internet forums, especially on this site, for a few weeks now, since we first decided to start trying about 3 weeks ago! We got married in July but originally thought we would wait at least 2 years before TTC since I’m still in pretty intensive school (dental school), but decided about 3 weeks ago that we would just see how it all goes. I was on the pill for about 8 years and just stopped at the end of August for other health reasons, and my cycles have been all over the place since, so we figured it would take a while. Starting in September they were 36 days, 53 days, 35 days, 37 days, and 38 days. I figured my fertile week was March 20-26 (according to my period tracker app) but on March 24th I decided to buy an OPK just to be sure I was guessing ovulation around the correct week, and that day I got a flashing smiley on the clearblue digital. I also got a flashing smiley on the 25th in the morning and a solid smiley that night around 7:30 pm, so, I’m guessing I O’d the next day some time, on the 26th. BD’d on 19th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, 25th, and 26th. I have had absolutely no symptoms since then (although I don’t usually have any pre-period symptoms) and was getting prepared to try again next cycle since after reading these forum it seems like everyone has all these crazy symptoms before BFP! Anyways, I woke up this morning and just felt like I should just take an HPT, even though I’m not expecting my period for 7 days. Totally not expecting to see anything since everyone seems to say they don’t see much until AT LEAST 9 dpo, most even later than that. But lo and behold, got a faint line, but definitely visible. Tested again this afternoon and an even more visible line…only 7 dpo! I’m nervous since it’s so early that it’s a fluke or something? Especially since I did not expect anything the first month trying! What does everyone think??
