BFP Stories

Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

BFP with No Symptoms

First BFP after 2yrs ttc, no symptoms and was sure AF was coming!

Hi ladies, I can't believe I am finally able to tell this story! DH (34) and I (32) have been ttc for 2 years and I just got my first BFP!! I really think it was all due to soft cups and Geritol which were the only things we tried differently the last cycle. I temped everyday and about 4 days before AF was due I had a major drop in temp so I started to count us out this cycle. I stopped temping that day and just went about the rest of the week like AF was coming. I had a little bit of brown spotting 2 days before AF was due which was normal for me. Fast forward to 18DPO and still no AF, but I've had 2 previous cycles ( a year apart) where she was over a week late, so I was still counting us out. I had none of the "normal" pregnancy symptoms, no sore boobs, sense of smell was the same, no weird dreams, no extra creamy cm. The spotting stopped but I still didn't think about testing. I already had a pre-conception/fertility appt scheduled with my dr the next day so I figured she would tell me it was just one of those cycles again. Typical appt, pee in a cup, but this time when they did a PT it came back positive!!! Did a HCG test as well and it was positive!! I was in shock!! The next morning, (bc I peed on so many sticks I wanted to finally see that BFP myself) I took a HPT and there it was! PREGNANT!

I hope my story gives someone ttc a little bit of hope to not count yourself out! There were so many times I symptom watched or came on here and tried to compare symptoms and when I finally got my BFP there wasn't one symptom there for me to notice! Everyone is different! Baby dust to all!!

BFP with PCOS/Clomid 2nd attempt

Hi Ladies,
I have been stalking this site since a long time and I decided that when I get a BFP I will write and pass on encouragement and hope to other fellow women going through this trauma..
I m 29 year old and my hubby is 32 years old. We have been trying to conceive for a year. I knew i had PCOS since I was 15 years old. My gynac at that time said "Make sure you try for babies right away because you would have trouble". Fast forward to today. We went to RE after reading good reviews about him. Our first appointment lasted for 2 hours, he explained everything and course of action. We started with clomid 100 for 5 days in May. I fell pregnant in June. However the HCG kept reducing and I had very early miscarriage. I was heart broken and cried for days. Doctor suggested trying clomid again for the next cycle, however my left ovary was very stubborn and the dose didn't help the follicle to grow as required. He then up my dose further. I ovulated little late than last month and unlike last month I didn't had the usual ovulation cramps which made me think this month is wasted as well.
14 days after my positive OPK, I checked tried HPT, i had no hopes and got a BFN. Doctor told me just wait for periods, if it doesnt show up in 3 days try HPT again. After 3 days, tried the HPT, and voila BFP! I could believe my eyes, I woke my husband at 4.45 am to ask him if he could see the line or I m hallucinating.. how can it be possible. Next day did a blood draw and HCG came out to 284! Did followup HCG and it had the right value again.

Frankly speaking we didn't do anything different than last month, had folic acid supplement, metformin and healthy lifestyle. I had my ultrasound last week and saw a bright beating heart.. which brought me to tears!

Today I m 7 weeks 6 days pregnant and I didnt had any nausea , morning sickness or crazy cramps. In fact I dont feel pregnant at all. I do have food aversions, frequent trip to bathroom, bad acne.

Hoping and praying for a healthy baby and full term.

For all those ladies out there, no matter what happens or what people say.. don't lose hope! Medicine and science has come too far along and maybe you would live the marvel in your lifetime!

BFP second baby after 15 months and 2 chemicals!

This is a delayed story as I got my BFP on 31 March 16 after trying for 15 months with 2 back to back chemicals in 2015 (August and October).

Our first boy took 3 months to conceive so I was getting extremely concerned that he'd be any only child and that my body was broken (he's now 3 1/2)

2015 - for the entire year I tried all sorts of supplements (Soy Iso, Vitex, B6 etc) my cycle was wonky and ranged from 31-36 days. We had a very stressful year with a death in the family and a house purchase.
It was heartbreaking to have 2 chemicals in a row so I started getting fertility checks - everything came back normal and I was told that I had unexplained secondary infertility at 30 years of age. Not helpful or encouraging.

2016 - I stopped taking ALL supplements and my cycle went back to 29 days. I started seeing a Chinese medicine practitioner and he started me on acupuncture to balance my body. I started relaxing more. My doctor referred me to fertility specialists with a long wait list and also asked my husband to get a sperm analysis. The day that he was supposed to get his sperm analysis I got a strong BFP. The only reason I checked was to ensure I could enjoy a big glass of red wine!!

For me personally, I believe the timing wasn't right for 2015 with all of the stress is our lives. The supplements were confusing my body and I was out of balance in multiple ways.

Here is a summary of what worked:

Acupuncture for 3 months (I still go now at 21 weeks pregnant)
No supplements (apart from Folic Acid)
Using OPKS (I was using them the entire time but didn't want to stop because they were accurate)
I put my husband on Maca Root the month we got our BFP (apparently it increases sperm count and quality)

Heres a summary of OPK, BD and BFP:

BD on CD 11, 12, 14 and 15
Positive OPK on CD 14, 15 and 16
Strong BFP on CD 12
Super strong BFP on CD 14

Symptoms = nothing unusual until 6 weeks pregnant when nausea kicked in.
I should mention that the months I had my chemicals, my BFP was very faint and didn't get darker then I miscarried at about 5 weeks (when most women wouldn't even know that they're pregnant yet!)

Here's the interesting part: my acupuncturist knew from my pulse that I was pregnant 1 week before I got my BFP (it was in my medical notes when I told him about my BFP). He then predicted that I was having another boy based on my pulse at 8 weeks pregnant and I found out on Friday that we are indeed having another boy.

Hope this helps others. Sometimes it feels like it'll never happen and it's a very lonely, anxious and helpless experience. In hindsight, the timing of our new baby couldn't be better so I'm really happy that it's turned out this way.

Good luck ladies!

IUI 2 Week Wait - no symtoms

Hey all,

I am 36 years old and have never been pregnant. I had an issue with my cervix being too tight and I think that is why I am unable to conceive. On July 18th (Monday) I went in for my first IUI. 2.8 million sperm. The next day, Tuesday - I had spotting all day basically, and some periotic pinching feelings in my lower abdomen. I just quit smoking on the 18th and hope that doesn't effect anything. I have read that people are getting symptoms on day one or 2 and I don't have any of that. No gas, no nipple issues, just a feeling of being full actually. not the dreaded 2 week wait. has anyone else not experienced any symptoms and had the IUI work. I just pray that this works, as I'm sure we all do. Has anyone had spotting a day after their iui. Wish me luck ladies.

Glad to have this support group :)

BFP Hope

A year ago today I found out I was pregnant. It therefore seems appropriate that today I share my story with all those people out there who are on the same journey as I was for over 4 years. I found so much comfort and hope in reading your posts and want to give something back and hopefully bring comfort to others.

So in a nutshell here is my story. I met my husband when I was very young - only 20! We spent many happy years together enjoying life, creating careers for ourselves and traveling. We got married when we were both 31 and started trying for a baby the year after. I assumed it may take up to a year but even early on I sensed that our journey to becoming parents may be longer than expected.

After over a year of trying we both had check ups to see what was going on. I was diagnosed with mild endometriosis and all was ok for both of us apart from that. We started with monitoring my ovulation and then stimulating with injections. We then moved on to inseminations and finally resorted to IVF. The IVF was tough and I reacted badly to the treatment and our embryos had to be frozen. After one failed transfer and a lot of heartache we decided it was time for a break. IVF was taking over our lives and affecting our couple.

The decision to have a break was the best decision I could have made. I had been running on the treadmill and unable to stop and was worn out both physically and emotionally.

Taking the control back was liberating. I also began yoga, acupuncture and went to see someone to talk about how I was feeling. It felt like an outpouring of grief that was bottled up inside me. I came to live with the fact that it may not happen and to enjoy the life I had.

After a 6 month break we decided to transfer the remaining 2 embryos - one day 3 embryo and one day 5 embryo. I felt in such a great place at that stage and so at peace no matter what the outcome would be. I took time off work after the transfer to rest and to "live" the experience. I listened to lots of relaxation music and meditation. This time the treatment worked and my little boy is now 4 more old. The expression "rollercoadter of emotions" is so apt to describe this experience. Before finding out the treatment had worked I resigned myself to the possibility that we may never have children.

In the wait leading up to my first blood test I had no real symptoms apart from cramps early on which I put down to the transfer procedure and tiredness. The day before I did the blood test I was convinced my period was coming and that the treatment hadn't worked. These period like pains continued for the first month of my pregnancy. In the past, I had convinced myself that I had all the symptoms going and then each time got a BFN. I had prepared myself for this again and when the results came back positive, I just didn't know how to react. The first few months I was still quite
nervous and it wasn't really until I felt my baby moving that I allowed myself to "enjoy" being pregnant and relax a bit.

To all of you out there waiting for you BFP, continue to believe. You will become Mums one way or another. I know that it is easy for me to say this now, but keep positive and stay strong. Wishing you all so much luck. Being a Mum really is the most precious gift I have ever received and one that I will cherish even more given what I have been through. The last 4 months have been life changing and I feel so privileged to have experienced them.

BFP TTC #1... minimal symptoms

So, I have been stalking this site since my husband and I started preventing pregnancy in February 2016. I had been on the bcp and got off a month after our wedding (we got married May 2015 and I stopped taking it in June).... unfortunately stopping bcp altered my cycle length from 27-29 day cycle pre-birth control to 30-35 day cycle post birth control.

We started preventing pregnancy in February 2016 and I tracked my Ovulation through app on my phone and started using OPKs to track ovulation in May 2016. Got a positive CD 15 and we BD that day, but next day it was negative. We did not have time to BD that day... started testing using internet cheapies from 10DPO till 13 DPO but all BFN. Surprisingly and unexpectedly, I got my AF after 28 days that cycle after so long having long cycles. Next cycle we started BDing every other day from CD 10 and started testing OPKs and got a positive on CD15 evening so we BD that night. Next day afternoon got another strong positive so we BD again CD 16 and CD 17 and got negative OPK on CD 17 so am assuming this was OV day as I don't temp. Tested using internet cheapies CD26 (9DPO), CD27 (10DPO) and CD28 (11DPO) both BFN. Assuming my AF was due after 28 days, I stopped testing and decided to wait till day 30 and test then if AF did not show up.

I had no typical pregnancy symptoms. On CD28 (11DPO) and CD29 (12DPO) I started feeling slight burning cramps similar to AF cramps but milder and I thought I was out that month. I also started getting dizzy spells when I get up from a seated position almost once or twice everyday between 10DPO and 14DPO which is not normal for me. On 15DPO CD32 I decided to finally take a test and got my BFP using an internet cheapie and FRER!!!!

I prayed for this bean to stay stuck...

So my husband 36 and myself 33 have been ttc since we were married in 2011 almost five years! We had one pregnancy that lasted for 11 weeks and three chemical pregnancies. Well here is how I received my BFP this time :)

I was on 50mg of clomid the two cycles previously but ran out of prescription.
I usually take .125mcg of synthroid and 7.5mg two times daily of Sustained release T3 for my Hypothyroidism, however I upped my T3 to 15mg twice a day to see if it made me more energetic as I kept forgetting my mid day dose and had tons of extras.

I was on quite a sushi kick for the TWW, however before we all panic it was cooked sushi!
Started going to a chiropractor as I had hip/back issues and had one massage too.
Didn't do ovulation testing due to it being a break cycle and no fertility meds, however we maintained our schedule with pre-seed and softcup combo CD 8 - CD 12. Didn't really track nothing this month as I just feel like a failure after years and years!

We did the deed on CD 5, CD 8, CD 10, CD 12, CD 18. My cycles are max 23 days, usually 21 so we were on a family trip and came back on CD 24 and tested mid afternoon and it came up positive. I just thought I was late from the clomid in my system from previous two months?! Totally shocked as I haven't had any symptoms that I can recall, maybe a bit tender breasts and frequent peeing, little diarrhea on CD 17 now I am a bit dizzy CD 25? Which all before have happened with no BFP.

I hope this is the one that sticks for us, I would be more than blessed and would thank the heavens above!!!

Wishing you all the luck on your ttc :)

First ever BFP 11dpo!!! Here's my symptoms

This is our 4th month TTC and the first month we used preseed. My symptoms this month that made me suspect pregnancy was that I actually felt fine. Normally a few days before aunt flow I get cramps and mood swings. The only thing I found odd was that all through the TWW I found myself getting a bit carsick when I was behind the wheel. I also got a heat rash between my BB's 2 days before a positive pregnancy test after going for a 2 mile walk. I have never had a heat rash before so that made me a bit suspicious. Today was my first BFP so i took 3 tests and all had clear positives. Period isn't late until Wednesday, so I am going to test each morning to make sure the line still shows up.

BFP very minimal symptoms

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share my story with all of you mama's-to-be out there. First of all I'm going to be 32, husband 36, both healthy have one 16 month old DD. Have been experiencing irregular cycles since 10 months post partum, anywhere from 47 to 33 days ( though they've been getting more regular with each passing cycle). We've been trying for 6 months and using preseed and Opk's. This month was actually the first month I didn't use OPK's or preseed. Because my periods have been so irregular I had no idea when I was ovulating and for some reason my post partum body was not producing ewcm like it used to, so I used an app to target my fertile window. (The app was actually a bit off in its calculation according to when I got my first bfp, so I think it's really important to listen to your body and BD when youre feeling randy). We tried to BD every other night starting a week after my period ended, but we Def missed a few nights.
Unfortunately I can't list symptoms ( or lack of) according to DPO, since I can't be certain of when I ovulated. Please note that hese symptoms are things that I discovered in hindsight.

Feeling short of breath taking stairs at work (just thought I needed to lose 5lbs)
Got a head cold with persistent runny nose (I have a toddler 'nuff said)
Very transient breast pain (just thought period was coming)
Felt a bit nauseous one evening (just assumed it was from the 3 cocktails I had earlier that day- obviously I'm a believer in the drink till it's pink addage)
Slept like a log one night and woke up with a very stiff neck
Those were my only symptoms during my tww. I had no noticeable cm changes, dreams, mood changes, bloating, breast growth (sad i know) or bowel issues.

That has been my experience this time around and I don't think I had any tww symptoms the first time around either. Hope this helps some of the future moms out there. Good luck and baby dust to you all!

A little late but wanted to show my support

Hi ladies,

I remember coming to this website every day of the month for at least a year. Now, I am 35 weeks pregnant. But I remembered how supportive it was to me to read about the BFP stories and what I could look for and any advice provided.

I was TTC for 2 years with my husband - I used ovulation calculators and checked my CM every day for the perfect EWCM but to no avail. The last time I had gotten pregnant, it was a surprise so I had no idea how stressful trying to become pregnant could be.

At last, despite my husband saying it took the romance out of it, I invested in ovulation sticks. I was convinced we were just missing the window and that by using them it would help. And boy did it ever. I got pregnant with 2 months of using the sticks and the best part is you get a ton in a package so you can test multiple times a day if you are obsessed like I was.

Day 1-7: Nothing, no symptoms
Day 8: Tired, mild nausea.
Day 9: Same
Day 10: Same
Day 11: Back ache, tired
Day 12-14: Feeling tired and not hungry at all.
Day 15: Light BFP
Day 16: Dark BFP
Day 18: Confirmed at doctor's office with blood test.

So here is my advice:
Get the ovulation sticks -they really do help take the guesswork out of when you are ovulating.
Do not stress if your symptoms are not overly obvious - I got my positive blood test and still didn't really feel pregnant until about 12 weeks along.
Don't rely on counting the days of your cycle - mine were regular but I still missed the mark for over a year on when I usually ovulate.

Sending happy thoughts your way! Thank you to this community for keeping me hopeful during those late nights on the computer wondering why it wasn't happening.
