Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

BFP after Mirena Removal

BFP post-Mirena and using progesterone cream

It's so hard for me to believe that this is actually happening...

I'm 28 years old and my husband is 34. Neither of us have ever conceived. We've been ttc for 4 months, and this is our 6th cycle. Obviously I have very short cycles; they average from 23-24 days. My last cycle was only 21 days, though. I was also experiencing mid-cycle brown spotting on the regular. I started to think that I had a progesterone problem, especially since I was on Mirena for about 4 years. I had Mirena removed a year ago, but I heard that some women continue to experience problems maintaining an adequate level of progesterone far after Mirena is removed. After my husband and I had tried for 5 cycles and timed everything correctly, including BD'ing 4 times during each fertile window, I decided to invest in some Emerita Pro-Gest progesterone cream. I used this the day after ovulation (I probably ovulated on CD 11 but unconfirmed) and continued to apply it twice a day every day.

Here are my symptoms/activities by CD/DPO (didn't keep track of some of my earlier CDs):

cd 5 / -6 dpo: BD. Laid down for 20-30 minutes after.
cd 6 / -5 dpo: BD. Laid down for 20-30 minutes after.
cd 7 / -4 dpo: Nothing.
cd 8 / -3 dpo: BD. Laid down for 20-30 minutes after.
cd 9 / -2 dpo: BD. Laid down for 20-30 minutes after.
cd 10 / -1 dpo: Positive OPK in the morning. BD. Laid down for 20-30 minutes after.
cd 11 / 0 dpo: Probably ovulated. Did not BD.
cd 12 / 1 dpo: Husband left for job out of state. I started applying progesterone cream twice a day, every day on and after this day. started eating a VEGAN diet (cut out all dairy, eggs, and meat), not because of ttc but as a personal experiment/for my own health. Tracked my nutrition to ensure I was getting enough protein. 1 hour of spinning on the bike.
cd 13 / 2 dpo: Creamy cm; blamed it on the progesterone cream. Still eating vegan diet. 1 hour of spinning on the bike.
cd 14 / 3 dpo: Creamy cm. Still eating vegan diet.
cd 15 / 4 dpo: Creamy cm. Still eating vegan diet.
cd 16 / 5 dpo: Took a plane to out of state to meet my husband in the state that we will be moving to at the end of August. Started shopping for a house on this day. Ate vegan in the morning and then officially stopped the vegan "experiment" once my plane landed in the afternoon (planned). Felt great. Good energy. Hung out with friends. BD. Creamy cm; my husband noticed it was "wet."
cd 17 / 6 dpo: Creamy cm. Enjoying lots of great food and hanging out with friends. Shopping for houses. Good energy.
cd 18 / 7 dpo: Creamy cm. Still enjoying lots of great food and hanging out with friends. Shopping for houses. Good energy.
cd 19 / 8 dpo: Creamy cm. Bloated; blamed it on the food I was eating. Boobs and back hurt; blamed it on PMS. Flew back to state we are currently living in. Made an offer on a house and it was accepted by the sellers (!!!)
cd 20 / 9 dpo: Cm starting to dry up. Very bloated. Start to feel like AF is on her way. Disappointed but excited about the house.
cd 21 / 10 dpo: Dry cm. Very, very light brown, watery stuff only when I wipe. Sporadic and not enough for a liner. Start to definitely think AF is on her way. Very bloated and back and boobs hurt.
cd 22 / 11 dpo: Dry cm. Woke up with increased sex drive. Still having light brown stuff come out but it's not increasing. No cramps. Saw one DROP of brown blood on the toilet paper. Very bloated and back and boobs hurt. Cravings for chocolate and other junk food.
cd 23 / 12 dpo: Dry cm. Out of breath going up the stairs. Blame it on not being acclimated to the high altitude again yet (I live at high altitude and we had been visiting a place at sea level). Cravings for chocolate and junk food. Tender breasts and back pain. VERY bad gas. Bloating. Breaking out on face and butt. No desire to exercise.
cd 24 / 13 dpo: Supposed to start my period on this day. Wake up and don't have any cramps. Run to take a test as soon as I have to pee. It was one of those Amazon cheapies and I got a very faint positive but definitely saw it. Blinked a few times to make sure I wasn't imaging it or seeing an indent line. Waited a couple more minutes, looked away and back at it several times. Always saw a line. Ran to tell my husband. He was still sleeping (it was 6 AM) but he woke up IMMEDIATELY. Sent a picture to my best friend and she said she didn't see a line, but she "believed me." Husband drove me to take another test and I got a positive on a FRER (see pic)!!!!! Sent another picture to my friend and she finally agreed :-) Got a bit nauseous in the car ride to the store to get the test, but that's it. Random boob pain, and some twinges and pulling in my uterus. Still very bloated. All my pants feel too tight.

Age 39 BFP after giving up

Hi ladies! I've lurked here for months and promised myself I'd post if I ever had a bfp. I want to encourage the over 35 chicks who are ttc.
I'm 39, hubby is 34. I have 4 from previous marriage current ages are 20,18,14, and 12.
Hubs and I wanted a baby, I removed Mirena in Jan 2016. I temped, charted, peed on ovulation sticks, took vitamins and BD'd whether we felt like it or not.
Month after month I got my hopes up, then nothing. One evap line gave us 24 hours of false hope. I had smoked for years, had ovarian cysts, and my mother was menopausal early. I accepted that this meant that I'm probably not fertile and I gave up on ttc when my periods became irregular. Every time my period was late, I was elated, only to be crushed with a neg test.
My employer has great infertility benefits, but I decided that approaching age 40, that the chances weren't great and i couldn't go through the emotional turmoil of infertility treatments. Every month really made me feel like a failure.
We stopped all the temp taking, charting, opk, and timing BD. We bought a house and broke it in ONCE during my cycle. It was CD 14, for those of you that track that. My cycle was between 22 and 40 days long.

5 days dpo: acne flare up, not unusual for me, but worse than normal.

12-14 days dpo: I was emotional and weepy during a particularly difficult week at work, chalked it up to pms and anxiety. I had a sore throat and thought it was a summer virus.
15 dpo: missed period, didn't care, work is too rough this week to think about anything else.
16 dpo: breasts not fitting in bra, no tenderness
17&18 dpo: fall asleep at 8 pm, grateful for the sleep.
19 20 21 dpo: pants tough to button, breats are quite full. I suspect another ovarian cyst is messing with me, or that the dreaded perimenopause is in full swing.
21 dpo: stop home beiefly and take a quick pg test before making ob appt for the ovarian cyst, because i know they will ask about pg possibility.
I've taken so many negative ones that I barely even glanced at it.
It was positive. Bright bold blue unmistakably positive.
Hang in there, girls.

BFP with Femara, PCOS, and Endometriosis

I am so excited to share my news of my BFP!!! I know it is still early but this site has been so helpful for getting through the tww!

Me:28
DH: 35
Cycles: 9

Sorry for the long story! Skip to the end for symptoms.

In October 2015, we decided to start a family and had my Mirena removed. Three days later, I started having terrible back pain and was diagnosed with a kidney stone. After a week with no relief, I went to the ER and had an emergency CT scan which found a tumor that was cutting off my ureter-I went for surgery three days later and they found that it was endometriosis. After a year long battle, I ended up having a serious surgery to remove part of my ureter that was damaged, my appendix, and had a laparoscopy to remove stage 2 Endo. My left ovary was stuck to my side with Endometriosis and my surgeon was amazing and able to save it.

During my surgery, my surgeon suspected that I had PCOS because of the small cysts on my ovaries. We tried for 6 months on my own, but when I realized that I wasn't ovulating every month I went to my OBGYN. He is amazing and recommended me to go to an RE.

My RE sent me for a full panel of bloodwork, which came back fine but he confirmed that my symptoms met PCOS. I was placed on Metformin, Vitamin D3, vitamin E, CoQ10, and Femara. The first two cycles of Femara I tried 5 mg days 3-7, with no success. This last cycle I was placed on Femara 7.5 mg days 4-8.

Things I did differently this cycle:
Pineapple 1 dpo-5dpo
Pomegranate juice 1 dpo-5dpo
Femara 7.5 mg days 4-8

I used OPKs to confirm ovulation as well as bbt.
We BD everyday (sometimes twice a day) CD 10-16

CD 16- ovulation
CD 17/1 dpo-Loose bms, very frequent bms, cramping, gassy
2 dpo- cramping
3 dpo- none
4 dpo- gassy, skin break out, progesterone check came back at 19.6
5 dpo- cramps, gassy, increased appetite, shooting pain in my breasts
6 dpo- cramps, bloated, gassy, headache, increased appetite, slight nausea
7 dpo- bloated, gassy, headache
8 dpo- cramps, heartburn, bloated, gassy, skin broken out
9 dpo- cramps, heartburn, BFN
10 dpo- heartburn, gassy, increased appetite, skin broken out
11 dpo- bloated, constipated, gassy, headache, BFN
12 dpo- bloated, skin broken out, sore nipples, BFN
13 dpo- bloated, skin broken out, sorry nipples
14 dpo- sore nipples, BFP!!!!!!!!!

BFP at 9 dpo after Mirena removal. Yeast infection, first sign!

My husband and I were TTC #1 for us and #7 for our family (we were the real Brady Bunch with 3 children each when we met! Haha). Also: yeah we're nuts. Our other children are older for the most part. I had my IUD removed at the end of February so it took us 3 cycles to conceive. We are both 33.
During my two week wait I wondered if I was going insane because I read so many stories about having no symptoms and I had almost all of them! Haha.

I usually have a 29 day cycle, extremely regular. I didn't have a period at all while I had the IUD. We only BD on CD 11/12 in my fertile period. We didn't use any meds or supplements, but I did take a prenatal since we were trying and I've read folic acid is best in advance.

CD 13: O day according to OPK's and a temp spike the next day. I also was bloated and had o pain.
1 dpo: I still had watery cm but my cp was high and already starting to close. I had cramping and tender breasts, which is normal for me after O.
2-4 dpo: I had a yeast infection for the first time in years and thought that's strange...the last time I had a yeast infection I was *gasp* pregnant! So I googled it and found a ton of stories about women having this sign before implantation even because of the rise in estrogen! Tried to stay realistic but couldn't help but think I'm definitely pregnant, haha. I also continued with the sore breasts and cramping, normal.
5 dpo: I had looked up what was safe to take during pregnancy and saw monistat externally is fine so I picked some up. Strangely, my yeast infection cleared up on its own before I even used this! My cm went to lotion like and yellow but no more itching or discomfort or clumpy like discharge. Also I had the slightest tinge of pink at one point but I had read that yeast infections can cause spotting because of the irritation so I didn't think much of it because I thought it was too early for implantation. Still crampy and tired. My bbs had a milk let down feeling but no pain or swelling.
6 dpo: Milk let down feeling. Cm was not much and watery. Cp was mid firm and closed. I had a stuffy nose, was tired, emotional, and my bbs started becoming sore but not bad at all. I was bloated and so hungry. That lasted from 6 dpo till the present 12 dpo.
7 dpo: Still SO tired. Bbs still slightly sore. Just all over. I had CM but it was hardly anything and creamy. My cp was still med firm and closed. I noticed this day that my areolas/nipples were darker. And my actual nipple had pronounced Montgomery's tubercles! Not the areola, the nipple.
8 dpo: Tired, hungry, emotional, crying over television which I don't do, sore bbs, areolas even a little darker and slightly bigger. Cm creamy but increased a lot. Cp low firm and closed.
9 dpo: Tired, hungry, emotional, and nauseated after eating. I was bloated and crampy. Nipples now puffy and a little bigger and still brown. I took a test that morning because of all of the symptoms but it was negative. Took a dollar tree that night because of the nausea, faint BFP! But I wouldn't say 100% it was because I've tricked myself in the past thinking I saw a line.
10 dpo: Same symptoms and cm and cp. went to get an FRER to double check the dollar tree from the night before, 100% positive. It was light at first but darkened over a few minutes. It was a 2 pack with one digital, one regular and the digital was negative. I wanted a digital for hubs, because he of course always questions the lines, though he did say he saw the one on the frer, but the digital said no ugh!!
11 dpo: Same symptoms, cp is higher now and a little softer and my cm is more milky and there's a lot. I got another digital and it was taking forever so I thought it would say no but it said YES +
I'm very thankful for this blessing and pray for a healthy bundle of joy in February of 2018. Something funny: I was a young mom at 17 and had my oldest son, who will be 17 when this baby is born! I thought that was neat.

Baby dust for you all!!

BFP 2 days after AF Due.

On the day AF was due I was having mild cramping and was feeling very sluggish. Boobs were tender so I knew I was out. Two days later when AF was still a no show I decided to pick up two cheap test from the Dollar Store and took them that night. They both were positive. I took a third later on that night after drinking tons on water that test had a faint line but it was visible. Not what I was expecting this year at all. I'm excited. I already have a 6 year old daughter. Dr's appointment this coming Friday but so far my symptoms are heartburn, tons of gas and I am extremely tired. Nausea as well and the elevator ride to the 19th floor at work doesn't help at all.

7 months after removing IUD

My DH and I have been TTC for 7 months, after removing the IUD birth control. For 6 months, I would start spotting anywhere from 3dpo to 8dpo and I would continue to spot until AF came on time. I got my progesterone levels checked and the doctor said they were normal, although I didn't agree. I even took prenatals for the entire 7 months and used preseed. Finally it happened, and I believe it was due to the fact that I started taking methylated b6 vitamin supplement. I have done research that indicates a gene mutation can cause an inability to properly convert b6 and b9 (folic acid) into the forms your body can use. This is likely why the normal prenatals I was using did not work. Anyway, I will also be taking methylated b12 and methylated folate instead of regular folic acid to ensure that me and baby get the usable forms of these vitamins. In the mean time I am also getting my genome sequenced to see if I have the mutation. We only BD once this cycle, which speaks for the effect of the b6 since I got pregnant the same cycle I started taking it.

As for the symptoms, I had almost none but I will go through anyway because I know how it is to symptom spot

1-5dpo - no symptoms
6/7dpo - nausea, I also normally have insomnia but these nights I passed out before midnight and I could not keep my eyes open
8dpo - no symptoms, I just thought it was odd that I wasn't spotting like I normally do by now and I had no breast pain, took a test and got an extremely faint BFP
9dpo - tested w/FMU and got a faint BFP, but it is darker, only noticeable symptom is that I did not want an egg with my bagel, will be purchasing FRER today just because I am still in disbelief

If you are spotting every month before you period while TTC, I strongly suggest trying a methylated b6 (not Pyridoxine HCl). If you get pregnant after doing this, consider taking methylated prenatals as well since this gene mutation is fairly common.

BFP at 40+

Today I got my BFP. 3 and 1/2 years waiting for this.
I am 40 and husband is 49. Nine years married and parents of a wonderful 8 years old boy. First pregnancy was a surprise early in our marriage. 4 years later our boy realized he was the only one with not siblings and started to ask for a sister. One year after and not baby he decided even a boy was fine. But nothing happened. Then we have a chemical pregnancy and never again.
Two years of test after test and 6 inseminations later they only said secondary infertility for not reason. This year we try to get IVF treatment and the new doctor told me I was too old (a little after my 40th birthday). He recommended another insemination without hormones and again failed.
I went back to my old doctor and we were working on my file for the IVF. On the meantime we tried one insemination more (with Clomid and progesterone)...
And today at 13 dpo I got two positive tests.
What I did this month :
Dhea 50 mg for both
Larginine for my husband
After iIUI :
Baby aspirin every night
Pep acid 1 per night
Benadryl 2 x 25mg per night.
Positive thoughts at morning and at night
Prayers a lot -I am not the most religious woman in the world but I prayed a lot every day because I couldn't imagine going trough in vitro hormones. I was crazy under clomid and progesterone alone!
I don't know if will go well but I am happy we already made it to a positive HPT I hope this story can give you hope. I was always checking other women in their 40s who end having a BFP.

44.4 years old Natural BFP (ending in miscarriage)

Hello Fellow Hopeful Mammas,

I just wanted to give all of those 40+ mammas some hope that pregnancy does happen naturally even at this age. And I will try my best to keep it short and to the point. But with that, the following will be very dry and un-entertaining...

I am a 44.4 year old, been trying for 20 months with my 40-year-old new husband whom has never had children. I have 3 children from a previous marriage (ages 16 1/2, 15 and 9 1/2, all boys). Achieved pregnancy on 3rd month with first son, 2nd month with 2nd son, and for the 3rd son, was not even trying as husband had a vasectomy 5 years prior, but one got through and next thing you know I was pregnant).

With first son had bleeding at 6 1/2 weeks, followed by an u/s and everything was fine. No bleeding with 2nd son. 3rd son, noticed a light period at 4-5 weeks and though nothing of it because I thought I was having regular period. Come to find out at 6 1/2 weeksI was pregnant! That "period" I had was awfully light...which may have been some sort of implantation spotting. Not sure.

Anyway, I have been an elite athlete running miles and miles throughout all of my pregnancies and prior to them. Never had a problem conceiving. But, I stopped exercising excessively years ago and currently only walk or run 3-6 miles a few times a week. I am very active, but have cut back dramatically. Maybe I should start running 13 miles a day again...that is what I was doing when I conceived in the past! ;-)

No health issues. I'm 5 6 1/2 and about 120, but recently got up to 125 hoping that would help me conceive, but it actually just makes me feel crappy.

Have not had any formal testing on myself or husband as our fertility appointment is scheduled for June.

I also eat ridiculously well (dandelion greens, garlic, beets, tons of probiotics, lean meats, fresh eggs, homegrown veggies, sprouted broccoli, seeds, etc. I can't possibly name everything I eat). Although, I do drink coffee daily (1-2 cups). I always have and its never been a problem. But the last couple months, I cut back to less than 1 cup. I also drink wine, but have cut back on that as well.

After 20 months, I finally received a strong BFP at 13 DPO on a Clear Blue Easy +/- Test.
8DPO on IC Cheapie BFN
10DPO on IC Cheapie Very Very Faint BFP
11DPO on IC Cheapie Very Faint BFP
12 DPO on IC Cheapie Very Faint BFP
13 DPO on IC Cheapie Very Faint BFP

We made love on CD 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20

Didn't test again until today (19 DPO) when I started experiencing some mild cramping and then spotting which turned to heavier bleeding, cramping, passing clots, etc. I used another IC with very diluted urine in the afternoon and the line was VERY VERY faint. I will retest tomorrow with another Clear Blue Easy test, but I'm certain it will be negative. I use a menstrual cup and lost more than one ounce of blood in 5 hours (that is A LOT OF BLOOD).

I am certain of ovulation because I have a Kindara BBT Thermometer and have a confirmed ovulation on CD14 with a triphasic chart.

I have not really had any symptoms, but this is totally normal for me. With all my other 3 pregnancies, I had zero symptoms. I have never had any miscarriages either.

Over the last 20 months I have never even had a slightest BFP. The last two months, I started acupuncture once a week, Chinese Herbs, COQ10, B-Complex, Women's Whole Food Mulit-Vitamin, Zinc, DIM, Vit C, and Magnesium.

I have also done TONS of meditation every single day (guided meditation for conceiving) as well as a little pregnancy yoga.

Oh, and I was (and still am) scheduled for our first fertility appointment on June 15th. My husbands employer covers three rounds of IVF, but I really didn't want to take this route. I guess I should be thankful...

Lastly, my acupuncturist wanted me to continue with some other Chinese Herbs (Dong Quai) and others, but after researching on my own found that there is no research on these and it kind of freaked me out. I opted to not take these...who knows if it would have made a difference.

Anyway, at this point I am having heavy bleeding, low throbbing pain (like I would have during a very heavy period) and passing clots.

My first OB appointment was scheduled for 5/28, but I guess that will no longer be happening.

Oh, and I will try to be happy that I actually "got pregnant" and at least something worked after 20 months. Moving on till next month or fertility treatment, even though at the moment I am over it!

Tomorrow (Mothers Day), my hubby is out of the country for work, but I am going to wake up at 6am and treat myself to a long solo run in the forest, then make my boys breakfast and take them on a 3 mile hike. We live in Santa Cruz, CA and are lucky to have the mountains and the ocean out our doorstep :-)

BFP at 10 DPO

Just had everything confirmed at the dr so I figured I would share my story after frequenting this thread over the last several months. My husband and I were ttc for 7 months before our BFP.

CD 12 I had a positive OPK... bd on day 10, 11, 12
CD 13 ovulation
1-3dpo- nothing noteworthy
4dpo- every cycle I have had a significant dip on this day... not this cycle
5-6dpo- my stomach was not happy... tmi I had diarrhea, which normally happens for me the day before my period
7-8dpo- more stomach issues and my boobs started getting achy feeling on the sides near my armpits. I never get sore boobs, only sore nipples a day or two before period
9dpo- major temp dip down to cover line, sore boobs, major mood swings, tired... took a hpt which was stark white negative
10dpo- temp back up, boobs getting more tender, oddly had a complete bounce back from the day before. I had tons of energy and in a great mood. Got home from work and made dinner and ate a small piece of pickle and though it tasted like dirty water (I like pickles usually) and thought it was odd. I took wondfo hpt before hopping in a quick shower, got out and saw a faint second line... BFP!

On 11dpo I took a digital which was positive and confirmed with the dr at 12dpo. Best of luck to all!
