TTC Advice & Tips

Would you rather receive TTC advice from your mother-in-law or a complete stranger? Most ladies I know prefer the complete stranger route (myself included). Well good news! Our site is literally crawling with complete strangers (the good kind), many of them eager to share their "tried and true" TTC stories with you. So unless you're a mother-in-law, we invite you to chime in with your TTC Advice and Tips. What got you pregnant? We want to know!

And for gosh sakes – if you have TTC advice to share, stop hogging it to yourself! Send us your TTC advice so we can share it with the world!

Preseed

Just got my BFP! What I did differently this cycle:
1. Used pre-seed beginning at CD11 until O was confirmed.
2. Didn't chart that much (just to confirm O and a few other random days.)
3. BD approx. 36 hours apart the 3 days leading up to O (Thurs PM, Sat AM, Sun PM with O on Sunday.)

Other things that I did or didn't do:
1. No green tea or robitussin (I did that on some of my previous cycles.)
2. Pillow under butt for between 10-20 minutes after BD.
3. Took PNV every day.

Green Tea tablets and Lots of water

I wanted to tell you what worked for me:

1. BD lovingly...keeping it fun and fresh. I prefer missionary, so 98% of the time that's how it goes.
2. Green tea tablets every day
3. Lots of water (I try for 1.5 L a day)
4. Grapefruit and/or fresh carrot juice when I can
5. Prenatals & supplemental folic acid daily
6. DH multivitamin & 1000 mg vitamin C daily
7. BBT and OPKs
8. SMEP plan, loosely

This month, we've been traveling (my husband is on business) and I actually reduced my temping obsessiveness...
I drank more caffeine than I have in a long time...
Put on about 5-10 pounds from eating out....
I bought tons of size small pants and size small shirts...
Invested in a mountain bike (which even has yet to be assembled)...
Mostly, we kept BDing fun!

Hope this works for all of you too...I will tell you I wasn't expecting this to happen this month!

Pineapple Juice

Hi, we just got our BFP today and I wanted to share the story with you.

On our 4th cycle TTC we did a few things different because I was getting really impatient and needed to do SOMETHING, even though it might not work.

What we did:
BD every other day from CD 10 on
Used opks and BD 3 days in a row after positive opk
Drank 1-2 glasses of pineapple juice from O day until I tested positive
Prayed!

I hope that helps some of you. I heard good things about the pineapple juice and decided to try it this month. Only don't use it after your BFP because one of the chemicals in it can cause AF tocome. (on the flip side the same chemical is supposed to help with implantation...)
Another note- on my estimated O day, we BD of course, and my husband was having a hard time "finishing" due to all the BD we had being doing. (sorry TMI) He even got blisters (TMI again!) but was determined to BD and finished after 45mins. We got our BFP 11 days later!

Musinex until O and Low-estrogen diet

What I did different this month: No drinking, even before Ovulation, no caffeine, one cup of green tea every day, one cup of grapefruit juice every day before O, Raspberry leaf tea every day before O, B-100 complex vitamin along with prenats, stopped taking all medications including my allegra-d, Musinex every day till O (max dose around O), ate only organic dairy and meat products (to avoid excess estrogen), ate mostly whole foods (non-processed) including lots of fruit and vegetables, took fibercon tablets to have a BM once a day, supposedly excess estrogen can be absorbed from you bowel if you don‚t have a daily BM - sorry if that is TMI, but hey whatever works! Drank pineapple juice every day from O to 10DPO to help implantation. Used a natural progesterone cream twice a day.

Exercise + No sweets, No Caffeine

Hubbie (25) and I (26) have been ttc for four months and just got our BFP! I have been charting my cycle since we first married 2 1/2 years ago (Roman Catholic). When we didn't conceive the first couple months of trying. I made a bunch of changes to my lifestyle, not sure if they helped but here they are: stopped drinking coffee/tea only decaf tea, stopped eating candy (I'm a big sweet tooth), stopped weightlifting/running. In July when we first started trying I was doing lots of running races up to 1/2 marathons. I was 5'2", 14% body fat and less than 100 lbs. I replaced running and weightlifting with swimming 4X a week because I knew I needed to gain some weight and put less strain on my body. I would reccomend it for those of you exercise freaks who are planning to slow down only when you actually get pregnant!!

Green Tea capsules + Prayer

After TTC for 2 months, I decided to try Green Tea capsules. I have a friend that has endo. and is now 6mo. preg. after being told she couldn't have any more children. She was taking green tea for energy and then got a BFP. So... Green Tea during CD1-12DPO BD 2 days before 0 day of O day after O and 3 days After O again and then the day after that.... I PRAYED and asked God for a blessing. on 13 dpo I tested with a $1 tree test and got a BFN... then on 18 dpo I got my BFP using an EPT!!! I hadn't even finished peeing on it before it turned +

Vitex, No Caffeine, Green Tea

I did loads of things differently the month of my BFP... I started drinking green tea and no caffeine at all. I had refexology every week till I ovulated and also started taking vitex at the beginning of my cycle to hopefully regulate them and it worked! Something among all this worked!! I would strongly recommend the reflexology. It's a good stress relief and in the UK it's not that expensive.

BD schedule, Pineapple, Green Tea

We bd'd 2 days before o, day of o and the day after o. I ate dark-chocolate covered pineapple pieces for that week after o. I had started taking prenatals the month before becoming preg. I drank a couple glasses of green tea the weekend before o'ing. I don't know if any of this has to do with conceiving but it sticks out for me! HTH!

1). CRAMPING ON AND OFF (2 WEEKS)
2). BUTTERFLIES IN STOMACH
3). SORE NIPPLES & BOOBS

8). TEMPS STAYED ABOVE COVERLINE

I ALSO TOOK SOME FERTILITY ENHANCERS : HERE IS THE LIST :

1). FLAXSEED OIL (1) TAB. 1000MG (THROUGHOUT THE CYCLE)
2). BETA CAROTENE (1) TAB 25 IU (UP TO O)
3). GREEN TEA (1) TAB 100MG (UP TO O)
4). EVENING PRIMOSE OIL (1) TAB (UP TO O)
5). ALFALFA (2) TABS 650MG
( THROUGHOUT THE CYCLE)
6). SOY ISOFLAVERNS (4) TABS 200MG (CD 3-7) FOR 5 DAYS BEFORE OVULATION.
7). INSTEAD CUPS (DURING BD ing)
8). OPK'S (STARTING CD 10)
9). B-6 VITAMINS (2 TABS) 100MG (THROUGH OUT THE CYCLE)
10). BABY ASPRIN (81 MG) (AFTER O - REST OF CYCLE)

IT TOOK US 7 MONTHS TO CONCEIVE, IT SEEM LIKE A LONG JOURNEY, BUT WELL WORTH IT ! IT SEEMED THAT WE KEPT MISSING THE EGG EACH CYCLE. ONE THING WAS OUR BD TIMING, WE EITHER BD WAY BEFORE O OR WAY AFTER. SO I STARTED USING OPK'S TO TIME BDing AND I TOOK SOY THIS CYCLE (WHICH DID THE TRICK). AND I TOOK FERTILITY ENHANCERS ALSO.

I WOULD TELL YOU, TO NEVER GIVE UP, IT WILL HAPPEN , WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT ! I WAS IN TOTAL SHOCK! WHEN I FOUND OUT. I THOUGHT FOR SURE WE MISSED THE EGG ! IT LETS YOU KNOW THAT MIRACLES DO HAPPEN !
