I had the Mirena IUD for approximately 18 months before deciding to try for another baby. I wasn't sure when I got it placed that I would want anymore children. So the delayed fertility after removal wasn't a concern of mine.That is until my husband saw a little girl in the mall and wanted a sister or brother for our first. So, in June of this year I went and got my coil removed in hopes that I would become fertile at least by the end of the year. I also went and bought some ovulation kits to help me to determine when to try so I wouldn't drive myself crazy with wondering if I could or couldn't be pregnant. It was removed on the 13th of June and I bled immediately. Very similar to a regular period. I wanted to wait until I had at least one normal cyle to start trying. I bled again on July 2nd, again very similar to a cycle. So, I went ahead and put the ovulation kits to use. I used them for a little over two weeks and according to the tests, I never ovulated in July. I took a test anyway on July 30th when my next cycle was due and BFN!!! My cycle ended up being two days late which drove me CRAZY, b/c I thought I really was pregnant. My next cycle started on Aug. 1st., again it seemed to be normal. After no positive ovulation tests I decided to just test myself once the day before my period was due. And another BFN!!! By this time I was convinced it would take my body some time to return to fertility. So, I put away the ovulation kits and decided if its going to happen, it'll happen. My next cycle started on Aug. 29th and it was also "normal". On, Sept.15th I had some weird cramping on my left side similar to ovulation
pains. So, I whipped out a test and sure enough I was ovulating!!! My husband was out of town and I was losing it. This was it! We had to get busy and he wasn't home. All I kept thinking was we had sex on the 12th. I hoped his sperm had survived all this time. After all, the books I've been reading say they can survive for up to 7 days. Lets hope that holds true. Anyway, my husband got home on the 19th which was way too late to do the baby dance. So,I waited on my cycle due on Sept. 26th. it never came!!! On the 28th I took a test and,I finally got my BFP!!! I'm 12 weeks along and due in May. To anyone who has had the Mirena, getting pregnant is possible. Don't give up!!! Good luck and baby dust to you all!!!

Hello! I have found your website very helpful and amazingly enough, I can finally contribute this crazy story!

I am 28, DH is 28. We started ttc #1 in December 2005. No luck after 12 months of trying. All fertility testing (HSG, sperm count, ovulation) came back normal, we were diagnosed with "unexplained infertility". We got pregnant in February 2007 on our first IUI (natural, no meds), but miscarried at 7 weeks. This year we have been through 3 more natural IUI's, 3 Clomid/trigger shot IUI's (all "textbook perfect") with no success (plus surgery - I had very mild endo removed).

After a 3 month break of no charting or keeping track of anything, we were ready to
begin In Vitro this month - I was just waiting for my period to start to begin my
meds. Well, that period never came!!! I am 5 weeks today! Talk about shock! So,
apparently, during the 2 day window when my husband was home from his business trip,
we somehow conceived (well, I know how, /technically/, but you know what I mean!).

The doctor gave us a 1% chance of EVER conceiving naturally, so this has been
absolutely amazing! Our family is shocked, everyone was getting prepared for us to
go through IVF. We were so close to starting the IVF we are having to get our IVF
loan cancelled.

Anyways, even though I had no idea (thought it was impossible) that I could be
pregnant, here are some symptoms I have noticed (estimated OV date 09/27/08):

3 DPO: fever blister
6-10 DPO: incredibly thirsty, very unusual
from 11 DPO on: occasional tiredness, going to bed earlier than usual on some days
from 11 DPO on: occasional cramping. The first few days (11-14 DPO) I was
expecting AF, and cramps seemed exactly the same. Now they are more varied (poking,
AF cramping, tingles, etc.)
from 14 DPO on: very very gassy!
19 DPO: very very gassy and bloated, heartburn in the evening (I never get
heartburn), pretty uncomfortable.

*I had no spotting whatsoever, that I noticed (I had no visible implantation
bleeding with my previous pregnancy either, I watched that one very closely).

FYI, my numbers:
4 weeks 4 days = 551 HCG / 23.7 PRO
4 weeks 6 days = 1508 HCG
We are nervous, but hopeful!

That's the story. I hope it gives hope to all those "Unexplained" couples out there!

First let me say how much I have loved your site! It has been my bible. I am 23 and my husband is 24 and we have been trying to conceive for a year naturally and FINALLY we became pregnant. Here were my symptoms:

1-3 dpo- I noticed slight cramping, it wasnt bad, but it was very strange and would last for a minute and then stop. I would feel cramps randomly all during this time.

4-6 dpo- Dry CM, cramps continue, restless

7-9 dpo- BB's are huge, but not at all painful. Normally before my period they hurt, but not this month. Just GIANT.

10-15 DPO- EXAUSTED, I was so tired I could barely get through my day. Also stared having SEVERE headaches and I was very bloated, which I know is a symptom of pms, but it I normally do not bloat.

16DPO- Two days late and I am never late, finally took the test and got at BFP. We are so excited.

Some advice for those of you still trying. My husband and I did something different this month, instead of BD at night we BD in the morning when men are the most fertile. We also paid very close attention to when I was ovulating. So if you arent having any luck, try the morning time. Baby dust to all!

In April turned 30 after 5 years of marriage and thought it would take one or two months to conceive. How wrong was i ??
6 months later the whole thing was getting me down and i felt like such a failure. My body was showing all pregnancy symptoms but i was never pregnant.
tonight i got my bfp !!!!! i cant believe it !!!! praise god !!!
i surprised my husband by putting the stick in a box which he had given me with my engagement ring in !! he had no idea ...it was one of the best moments of my life
he broke down and so did i...anyway i just want to to encourage anyone out there ...i know the despair ...seeing millions of pregnant people and feeling jelous or like i was missing out so here were my key symptoms.

had sex every other day for 5/6 days before and kept my legs in the air for at least 20min - was on the patch contraceptive for about 3.5 years - and clean for about 1.2 years when started trying
ovulation - majorly tired - just completed a 3 hour essay

4-8 dpo major headache - i had a similar headache when i first got AF, sneezing funny nose and throat. not really hungry but increased appetite !! seriously couldnt stop eating it was getting embarrassing, really bloated -
10-dpo - serious gas pains at work and two BM !!! really uncomfortable - feel distracted and memory is poor - really bloated - eating like mad
11dpo - felt like getting the flu - really cold all the time BFN !!! (cheap one from the pound store !) in the evening noticed veins in my wrist backs of hand and arms majorly noticeable - but just one in my chest (its always there) i think this maybe because i have really small boobs
12dpo - bfn !!! tired, a little moody ..got really dizzy after going on the bouncy castle at my god daughters party , my tooth broke !!! i had a major filling and the top of my tooth broke off when eating boiled sweet !! not sure if this has anything to do with being up the duff ?! boobs hurt
13dpo - moody , dizzy small spec of blood on paper towel really upset , some twitching and crying going on ... boobs hurt... think af is here - dh comments on my smelly pee !!! i notice it really does smell like a mans !!
14dpo wake in night to use loo , then go twice before 8 am serious af pains am , sneezing and dizzy think its coming then out of the blue feel that there is a baby in my belly - so i start talking to it (crazy i know) told beanie what we were going to have for lunch , made sure i had fruit and loads of water.. 4pm serious af pains think its here again ..feel wet so keep going to the loo to check but nothing there !! hurray . tell beanie i am going to confirm that he or she is in there so pick up a tesco brand test and got a bfp !!! still had af pains but felt amazing ...then surprised hubby ... told our mums only !! ( i know its early but want to remain positive ). gassy

so this was a major day for us - and wanna share our story and pass on hope - the journey in some ways is just starting - but one night both my husband and i dreamt that we were pregnant. DH dreamt that there were complications but someone said to him everything is okay - i am gonna take that as a big sign ...so far so good.. i am up the duff !!! baby dust to you all xxx

I'm 31. DH is 32. Had 1st miscarriage at 12 weeks in June (we think baby stopped growing around 10 weeks). It took forever (13 weeks) for my HCG levels to return to zero, though they did steadily decline. My cycle is long, approx. 37 days. We waited two cycles before TTC; BD'ing every other night during fertile period. I used OPKs (First Response) but never got a convincing positive. Had 3 dark lines on CDs 21, 22 and 23, but not as dark/darker than the control line. I must have ovulated though because we got a BFP on CD 35/12 DPO. Perhaps the ovulation cycle was less than 24 hours because I was only testing once/day at approx. 6:00 pm. I was very confident that I would see BFP. Here were the symptoms:

1-3 DPO - Ovulation pains on right side. Then cramping just above pubic bone that felt like pulling from the inside. Lots of watery cm.
4 -9 DPO - Sore, full BBS, continued cramping above pubic bone. Overactive salivary glands and mild nausea that goes away with eating. No noticeable cm. Occasional twinges above pubic bone, especially when I stand up quickly or sneeze. Vivid dreams.
8 DPO - BFN
9-10 DPO - Sore, full BBS, continued cramping above pubic bone. Overactive salivary glands and mild nausea that goes away with eating. Vivid dreams.
11 DPO - One or two blue veins on BBS. Creamy cm. Sore, full BBS, continued cramping above pubic bone. Overactive salivary glands and mild nausea that goes away with eating.
12 DPO - BFP with FMU using FRER. Woo hoo!!!!

Let's hope this one is sticky. I already feel much better about it because with M/C had three BFNs after missed period and did not see BFP until one week after missed period. BTW - I did not do a D&C or D&E with M/C, but rather took the pills because doctor said there would be less scar tissue. It was a horrible experience. For anyone out there trying to make that decision, I have two thoughts: (1) You CAN take pain medicine (advil, tylenol, etc.) with the M/C pills. I didn't know this and endured way too much excruciating pain for too long before DH called the doctor in the middle of the night. (2) I think not having the D&C may have caused the loooong delay in my HCG levels dropping. This was super frustrating because we had to wait so long before TTC again.

Anyway, we have BFP now and I'm very excited. Thank you so much for posting others' symptoms and stories. It really does help the TTW go by.

I am remarried with three children from previous marriage, ages 5, 10, and 11.

DH vacillated on whether or not to have one of our 'own'. He informed me that he was getting vasectomy on Friday, four days away. He was doing this for me, yes, I know. I'm approaching 35, am a smoker, and have been taking care of the contraception for many years....Allowing something to possibly happen in the next five years considering the risks involved for all seemed irresponsible, and it was now or never.

We knew, because we looked it up, that I would be most likely to conceive on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. And he agreed that if I were to get pregnant during that time, he would be happy, too, as this was his first, last, and only chance to have bio offspring.

It also happens that those three days I'd be off work (I have an apt in a major metro area 1.5 hrs away, where I live when I work) and I'd be home, willing, and able.

Tuesday I noticed EWCM. So I called dh and asked him to bring home a couple bottles of something yummy to drink. As I am not a regular booze person, just a few shots did us both in. We had a wild, passionate, fulfilling night of love. That next day, I just 'knew' it worked.

I have been on depo provera for seventeen years. I'm 34 DH is 36, ttc #1. I went off depo and onto the pill for two months in hopes of regulating my period, which I have only had about ten periods during those years. I have been obsessing over having a baby, and did fertility charting, but it made me so obsessed with every twinge. I was getting frustrated because I thought I would just bounce back from depo despite I've heard it takes at least a year to get pregnant. After months of obsessing I started being a grateful with DH for every little thing I wouldn't have, if we already had the baby - sleeping in, going to the beach with our two dogs at the drop of hat, going for breakfast or out for dinner so easily, and how much I enjoyed my garden, etc.

For the first time in June, I had what I would call a "regular" period, there wasn't any old blood clots, etc. It lasted the longest as well. I didn't think I even ovulated, because I didn't feel my usual side pains. I was especially amorous though and DH & I enjoyed each other and BD'd frequently, at least four times a week. I had mild cramping throughout the month which I thought was AF. I even put a tampon in CD26 morning just because I was so sure. Nothing. I've been counting my periods and they average 26 days, so when CD26 came up, and no aunt flo, I became suspicious.

Went home, tested, saw the FAINTEST line possible on internet cheapie and sat in shock and disbelief. Called DH and we both think it must have been something I ate to cause a false positive!! haha. We test with digital EPT and a definite PREGNANT! OMG I am elated to finally post this!! Best of luck and babydust to you all, hope this gives comfort to you post depo provera girls.
