Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives
BFP after IUI #4
I’m 32 and my wife and I have been TTC since October 2017. We decided to use a RE right away since donor sperm is expensive!! The RE checked my labs and flushed my tubes making sure everything was ideal before we started the process. The first two IUI we did without hormones because we were deathly afraid of twins or triplets! 3rd and 4th time we used 50mg clomid x 5 days and triggered with an ovidrel shot. In hindsight I should have just started with hormones because we had more ultrasounds and a better idea of what was happening, and when, instead of guessing based on your period tracker. Also helpful hint (just because you track your periods for months doesn’t really help that much unless you are also tracking your ovulation) Symptoms wise: the first two attempts were the worst. My mind played tricks on me and I was aware of every little gas bubble, breast pain and twinge. The 3rd and 4th times I feel I had a healthy detachment “what will be will be attitude” and couldn’t tell the difference between the hormones and actual pregnancy symptoms. Our 4th IUI was the last of this donor, if it didn’t work the RE recommended we switch. We had our IUI on Valentine’s Day (not as romantic as it sounds) My wife was out of town for work so my best friend took me. Directly after my IUI appointment we went for my BFF’s IUD appointment and then had a Bloody Mary to toast my fertility and her new form of birth control. The two weeks were sooooooo slow and long! But once you get the BFP the real anxiety and panic set in! We are 8 weeks now and cautiously optimistic. Had a viability scan at 6 weeks and saw a flutter of a heart. Wishing everyone the best of luck. Don’t give up.
